👢 Meet Boot Boulevard 👢

Inspired by the colour and energy of Mexico—and my longtime love of footwear—this lively street scene became an opportunity to experiment with both materials and technique.

I began with an acrylic base, incorporating spray paint, patterned tissue and stencilled texture. Oils were then added to create a warm-and-cool interplay and bring greater depth to the scene.
Working over texture was a first for me, and I loved watching the layers, patterns and personalities of all those wonderful boots come together. 🎨

Boot Boulevard is a large mixed-media work on watercolor paper. It will be professionally framed shortly but for now, here is its official introduction!

There’s a moment every spring that I wait for—when the garden quietly begins to come back to life. After the stillness of winter, the first signs are small… a bit of colour returning, tiny blooms pushing through, the light changing through the trees. It always feels like a kind of awakening. 🌿
This painting came from that feeling. Not just the garden itself, but that sense of renewal—the quiet promise that something is starting again, and that more beauty is on its way.
I was so pleased that “New Beginnings” recently found its new home at the DVSA Annual Art Auction. It means a lot to know it connected with someone else. 💛
