𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬

This took about an hour.
Very quick, alla prima, intuitive wash-based watercolour. The draft itself is quite rudimentary.

But the internal experience was exquisite.

I dropped into metacognition.
My analytical mind was preoccupied just enough that I could listen to some deeper knowing.

There was perspective. Holistic integration.
Looking at situations in my life from a different light.

It’s interesting… I would equate that state to what people might access over months of cognitive or talk-based therapy.

Here, it came through 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆.

And that’s what I’m starting to understand more clearly.
Play is not trivial. It’s a highly intelligent process.

After a meaningful and inspiring time in the mountains this spring, I’ve made the decision to focus on collections rooted in plein air exploration and mountain life.

There is something about the Canadian landscape that calls you into presence. It invites reflection, stillness, and a deeper connection to what truly matters. This direction feels not only creatively aligned, but purposeful.
I’m so happy to share the humble beginnings of my evolving collection, 𝓡𝓸𝓸𝓶 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝓗𝓪𝓹𝓹𝓲𝓷𝓮𝓼𝓼. ✨

This body of work explores the process of seeking light and inspiration en plein air in the Canadian outdoors, and then carrying that energy back into the studio. The pieces are preserved through my signature acrylic style, with bold, luminous colour and expressive movement, alongside more observational watercolour pieces.

You can explore an example of my watercolour landscape work here:

Looking ahead, I’m holding a 10-year vision of establishing a creative home base in Canmore, with a local gallery presence rooted in community, nature, and storytelling.

The purpose behind this work is to encourage reflection, connection to nature, and a sense of responsibility toward conservation and stewardship of the landscapes that inspire us.

Each piece carries a story.

More to come soon. 💌✨

Yesterday was 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 — and it feels worth pausing on.

In the pace of business, strategy, and ex*****on, art is often positioned as something “extra.”
But in reality, it is foundational.

Art is not separate from innovation. It is the source of it.

From a neurological perspective, creativity engages whole-brain thinking — integrating analytical reasoning with intuition, pattern recognition, and emotional intelligence. This is precisely the state that enables leaders to think ahead of the curve, navigate ambiguity, and solve complex problems with greater ease.

In other words:
The organizations that will thrive are not just efficient. They are innovative.

As recognized by UNESCO, art nurtures creativity, imagination, and cultural diversity. It invites curiosity, dialogue, and new ways of seeing — all of which are essential not only for a healthy society, but for sustainable, future-focused organizations.

This is a reminder that investing in art, creativity, and artistic freedom is not a “nice to have.”
It is directly connected to how we build resilient systems, inclusive cultures, and meaningful progress.

Whether through painting, music, writing, design, or simply creating space for new ideas — we all have access to this way of being.

And perhaps the real question for leaders is:

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲?

Because that is where the real advantage lives.

Super stoked to share that my painting “𝓣𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓣𝓲𝓶𝓮 𝓦𝓮 𝓦𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝓣𝓸𝓰𝓮𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓻” has been selected for the group Members’ Exhibition at Gallery@501 in Strathcona County.

The exhibition theme this year is Common Ground — which immediately resonated with me. In a time where everything can feel a little polarized, this piece reflects something quieter but deeper… the ways we’re still connected beneath the surface.

This painting was inspired by a winter walk through Mill Creek Ravine here in Edmonton. One of those moments where breathtaking beauty and instability exist at the same time — you’re slipping on ice but also completely in awe of what’s around you.

It became a reflection on interdependence, social identity, and what it means to move through the world together… even when things feel uncertain.

You can see it in person from May 7 – June 24, with an opening reception as well (details to come).

If you’re in the area, I’d love for you to experience it live. There’s something about seeing texture, colour, and energy in person that just hits differently.

And as always… nature continues to be one of the greatest teachers. 🌿

Acrylic on canvas
48 x 36

A little bit different style then usual.. but I just wanted to somehow express the sentiment when we look out the window or see the news with our friends down in the US. Also, offer slight support. 🇨🇦

This piece has been inspired by peaceful anti-ICE protesters in Portland, Oregon late 2025. ✨

Hang in there.
