No Stranger Portrait Group

No Stranger Portrait Group It’s a platform for art showcasing, story sharing, skill advancement or simply belonging by embracing and learning from one another.

We paint people whose faces are an embodiment of their life stories; the portraits are produced in live 3-hour sessions so painter and model weave a vivid symphony of colors and shapes that's never the same twice. It began with a story between two strangers: a Canadian girl in need of urgent help for a matter of life and death; an artist who was asked by another artist to paint her portrait and h

elp raise medical funds; he then answered the calling of painting ordinary strangers who touch his heart. He was joined by a group of like-minded artists and models since 2006, and after having met and painted over 200 strangers, the journey continues...

Founded by portrait artist Herman Zheng, The Western Canadian Portrait Group is a not-for-profit bunch who believe in connecting people through art. Every first Sunday of the month we get together and paint a live model - an ordinary Canadian from a random ethnic background and walk of life. He/she brings his/her story and we bring our paint brushes and canvas. We invite you to join us with your story or paint brush (or both) :)
