Während der Kommunalen Kapitale fand ein umfangreiches Touren-Programm statt: Mit Bus, Tram und U-Bahn konnten an einem Tag Ausstellungen in mehreren kommunalen Galerien in verschiedenen Berliner Bezirken besichtigt werden.
Wir nehmen euch noch einmal mit auf Tour – in Bildern.

An extensive tour program took place during the Kommunale Kapitale: by bus, tram and underground, visitors were able to view exhibitions in several municipal galleries in different districts of Berlin in a single day.

Sounds – Die Nacht der Künstler:innenbands rundeten den Eröffnungstag der Kommunalen Kapitale – Aktionstage der Kommunalen Galerien Berlin am 16. Oktober 2025 ab. Die Besonderheit der Sounds-Konzerte besteht darin, dass die Musiker:innen sowohl ein Standbein in der Musik als auch in der Bildenden Kunst haben.
Mit Mary Ocher, Angela Aux und LATURB waren drei großartige Musicacts Teil unseres Programms und begeisterten das Publikum. Charlotte Nies moderierte die Veranstaltung.
Es war uns ein Fest! Herzlichen Dank!

Sounds – A Night of Artist Bands was the perfect way to round off the opening day of the Kommunale Kapitale – Berlin Municipal Galleries Days of Action on 16 October 2025. What makes the Sounds concerts so special is that the musicians are equally at home in music and the visual arts.
With Mary Ocher, Angela Aux and LATURB, three great music acts were part of our program and thrilled the audience. Charlotte Nies moderated the event.

Vor rund einem Monat fand die Kommunale Kapitale – Aktionstage der Kommunalen Galerien Berlin, das große gemeinsame Event des Arbeitskreises Kommunale Galerien Berlin statt. Wir blicken zurück auf den ersten Teil des Eröffnungsabends in der WABE.
Zu Beginn thematisierte die interaktive Performance "Bewirb dich ab sofort!" von Sana Al Kurdi und Dachil Sado die Auswirkungen der Kürzungen im Kulturbereich.
Anschließend lud die Podiumsdiskussion "Kommunale Kapitale: Zum Stellenwert der kommunalen Galerien im Kontext der Bildenden Kunst in Berlin" zur Erörterung folgender Fragen ein: Welche Funktion hat die Bildende Kunst für die Stadt? Welche Rolle spielen die unterschiedlichen Orte für das Funktionieren des „Betriebssystems Kunst“? Und welchen Stellenwert haben dabei insbesondere die Kommunalen Galerien?
Auf dem Podium sprachen Ingo Arend, Leonie Baumann, Frauke Boggasch, Yolanda Kaddu-Mulindwa, Dr. Thomas Köhler und die Moderatorin Fatima Çalışkan.

The Kommunale Kapitale – Berlin Municipal Galleries Days of Action, the big joint event organised by the Berlin Municipal Galleries Working Group, took place a month ago. We look back on the first part of the opening night at WABE.
The interactive performance ‘Bewirb dich ab sofort!’ by Sana Al Kurdi and Dachil Sado opened the event by addressing the impact of cuts in the cultural sector.
In the subsequent panel discussion ‘Kommunale Kapitale: On the Siginificance of Municipal Galleries in Berlin's Visual Arts Scene’, the following questions were discussed: What role does visual art play in the city? How do the various venues contribute to the functioning of the “art operating system”? And what particular significance do municipal galleries have in this context?
The speakers on the podium were Ingo Arend, Leonie Baumann, Frauke Boggasch, Yolanda Kaddu-Mulindwa, Dr Thomas Köhler and the moderator Fatima Çalışkan.

Der allgegenwärtigen Weltuntergangsstimmung begegnet die Ausstellung mit Kunst, die Humor als künstlerische Strategie nutzt. Während sich plakativer Clownismus überlebt hat, gewinnt feinsinniger, scharfer und oft düsterer Humor als wichtiges Antidot an Bedeutung. Er eröffnet neue Perspektiven, wird so zu einer treibenden Kraft, indem er das Lachen selbst an Orten der Angst und Unsicherheit ermöglicht. Die Ausstellung taucht ein in das Straucheln der Welt und untersucht Humor als Mittel der Erkenntnis sowie die Möglichkeit einer Versöhnung mit den Unzulänglichkeiten der Gegenwart.

As a counterpoint to the omnipresent mood of doom and gloom, this exhibition features art that embraces humour as an artistic strategy. While superficial clownery fades into irrelevance, subtle, sharp, and often dark humour is gaining traction as an important antidote. It offers fresh perspectives and becomes a generative force, making space for laughter even in places marked by fear and uncertainty. The exhibition. The exhibition soaks in the turmoil of the world and explores humour as a source of insight and as a possible way of reconciling with the shortcomings of the present.

Stillleben kennt ihr bestimmt von alten Gemälden. Wusstet ihr, dass sie auch in der Fotografie zu finden sind? Bei einem Ausstellungsrundgang durch die Ausstellung Vera Mercer – Life in Focus entdecken wir gemeinsam die beeindruckende (Stillleben‑)Fotografie von Vera Mercer. Aus all dem, was wir gesehen und entdeckt haben, lassen wir uns inspirieren und gehen im Anschluss selbst ans Werk: Mit Modelliermasse, Fundstücken und Holz könnt ihr eure eigenen Stillleben in 3D nachformen. Probiert euch aus und experimentiert mit den spannenden Materialien!

Life in 3D – Still Life Workshop

You are probably familiar with still lifes from old paintings. But did you know that still life is also found in photography? On a tour of the Vera Mercer – Life in Focus exhibition, we will explore Vera Mercer’s striking (still life) photography together. Afterwards, we’ll create our own still lifes in 3D using modelling clay, found objects, wood. A great opportunity to experiment with interesting materials!

Das Mies van der Rohe Haus (Lichtenberg) eröffnet am Sonntag, 19.10. um 14 Uhr die Ausstellung "AN DIE SUBSTANZ. BAUHAUS DESSAU 100"

Vom 19. Oktober bis 9. November 2025 ist die Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau mit der Präsentation AN DIE SUBSTANZ zu Gast im Mies van der Rohe Haus. Gezeigt werden dreidimensionale Elemente, die den natürlichen Ressourcen hinter den „Materialien der Moderne“ – Beton, Stahl, Glas, Ziegel und Aluminium – Ausdruck verleihen. Es entstehen räumliche Collagen, die immer wieder neu arrangiert werden können. Die Displays reisen im Laufe des Jubiläumsjahres an verschiedene Bauhaus-Orte. Das Mies van der Rohe Haus bildet dabei die zweite Station und wird zu einem zentralen Ort des Bauhaus-Jubiläums in Berlin. Ein vielfältiges Vortragsprogramm begleitet das Gastspiel.

From October 19 to November 9, 2025, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation will present TO THE CORE at the Mies van der Rohe Haus.
The exhibition features three-dimensional elements that give expression to the natural resources behind the “materials of modernity” – concrete, steel, glass, brick, and aluminium. The result is a series of spatial collages that can be rearranged again and again, reflecting the Bauhaus spirit of experimentation. The displays will travel to various Bauhaus sites throughout the anniversary year. The Mies van der Rohe Haus, as the second stop on this journey, becomes a key venue for the Bauhaus anniversary in Berlin. A diverse programme of talks and events accompanies the presentation.

Zu einem Upcycling-Workshop lädt der Kunst Raum Mitte ein.

Neues aus alten S/Zeiten

Vergängliche Blätter – Poster, Zettel, Verpackungen vergangener Ausstellungen – werden neu belebt. Im Workshop erwachen sie durch Schneiden, Falten, Schichten zu Büchern, die keine Bücher mehr sind, sondern Skulpturen aus Erinnerung und Verwandlung. Jede Spur des Alten fließt in neue Gestalten, jede Seite atmet eine andere Geschichte. So entsteht ein Raum des Spiels und der Möglichkeiten, in dem Bücher wachsen wie Organismen – frei, experimentell, offen für alle, die aus Resten neue Welten spinnen wollen. Der Upcycling-Workshop führt in die Kunst des Buchbindens ein.

Kunst Raum Mitte invites you to an upcycling workshop.

New(s) from old P/Ages

Ephemeral papers – posters, flyers, packaging from past exhibitions – are given new life. In this workshop, they are cut, folded and layered into create books that are no longer books, but sculptures of memory and transformation. Every trace of the old flows into new forms; each page breathes a different story. A space of play and possibility emerges, where books grow like living organisms – free, experimental, and open to all who want to spin new worlds from leftover scraps. The upcycling workshop introduces participants to the art of bookbinding.

Workshop for children 5 years old and over, teens, and adults.

Um Identität geht es in der Einzelausstellung des Fotokünstlers Wataru Murakami in der Galerie im Tempelhof Museum.

Wataru Murakami setzt sich in der Ausstellung Dispersion (dt. Zerstreutheit) mit dem Empfinden seines Selbst und dem Begriff der Zugehörigkeit auseinander. Er hinterfragt seine Identität – sowohl als Individuum als auch als Künstler – im Kontext seines Umfelds und reflektiert dabei innere Konflikte. Mittels visueller Eingriffe wie Übermalungen und Fragmentierungen verweist Murakami auf eine alternative Wirklichkeit, die sich unter der Oberfläche offenbart.

Identity is the theme of the solo exhibition by the photo artist Wataru Murakami at the Galerie im Tempelhof Museum.

The Berlin-based artist Wataru Murakami, who was born in Japan and grew up in Canada and the USA, photographs deserted places, barely noticed details and traces of movement. In the exhibition Dispersion, the artist explores his sense of self and the concept of belonging. He scrutinises his identity – both as an individual and as an artist – in the context of his surroundings and reflects on inner conflicts. Through visual interventions such as overpainting and fragmentation, Murakami develops his own visual language in which the visible simultaneously refers to something hidden – an alternative reality that reveals itself beneath the surface.

Mit dem Klang der Umgebungsgeräusche befasst sich der Workshop in der Klosterruine Berlin (Mitte).

Wände, Nischen, Zäune – sie alle klingen, wenn man hinhört. Im Workshop lauschen wir den Räumen und ihrer Umgebung, sammeln Rascheln, Echos, Klatschen, Flüstern. Gefundene Geräusche werden gezeichnet, geteilt, verstärkt und nachgeahmt. So entsteht ein kollektives Klangspiel, das Architektur, Körper und Fantasie verbindet. Mit einfachen Mitteln, selbstgebauten Instrumenten und Stimmen verwandeln wir Mauern in Resonanzkörper, erforschen Rhythmen und lassen verborgene Klänge sichtbar werden – ein hörendes Erkunden von Raum und Zeit in der Klosterruine.

Walls, niches, fences – when you listen closely, they all make sounds. In this workshop, we eavesdrop on the spaces around us, collecting rustles, echoes, claps, and whispers. The sounds we discover will be drawn, shared, amplified, and imitated. We’ll create a collective soundscape that connects architecture, body, and imagination. Using simple materials, handmade instruments, and our voices, we turn walls into resonating bodies, explore rhythms, and reveal hidden sounds — an auditory journey through space and time in the monastery ruins.

Das Goldrausch-Künstlerinnenprojekt zeigt in einer Gruppenausstellung in der Galerie im Körnerpark die Arbeiten der diesjährigen Teilnehmerinnen der 35. Ausgabe seines renommierten Weiterbildungs- und Förderprogramms. Die präsentierten Arbeiten schärfen den Blick für neue und unerwartete Kontexte. In der Vielfalt der Motive und Medien wird Nähe – Up Close – als gemeinsame Herangehensweise auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen spürbar: Nähe zur eigenen Biografie, zu gesellschaftlichen Realitäten und politischen Kämpfen.

The Goldrausch Künstlerinnenprojekt – a professional development program for women artists – presents the work of this year’s participants in a group show at Galerie im Körnerpark, marking the 35th year of its renowned continuing education and support initiative. The works on display sharpen our perception of new and unexpected contexts. Through a diversity of motives and media, closeness – Up Close – emerges as a common approach on multiple levels: closeness to personal biographies, to social realities, and to political struggles.
