MARTIN LUKÁČ (b. 1989)
Pieštany, Slovakia

Martin Lukáč is a Slovak artist living and working in New York. In 2013 he graduated from the Technical University in Košice with a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, and in 2016 he received a Master’s degree in painting from the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague.

Lukáč’s work is an expression of a relaxed, intuitive creative process. His paintings are reminiscent of the work of the masters of Abstract Expressionism, but also have the freedom of graffiti artists and elements of pop culture. For him, painting is a way of being. His paintings come to life like strange characters from the world of comics. Amorphous forms, painted in vibrant, vivid colours, emerge from a background full of free-flowing lines, like automatic punctuation marks.

Lukáč often thinks in series, using the same motif several times, which he then repeats systematically in different variations on his canvases until he has exhausted them. This repetition and reduction of forms not only formally define Lukáč’s work but also underpin his practice. The selected motifs are not merely subjects of his paintings; through their repetition, they transcend their initial depiction and ultimately serve as the medium of the painting itself.

Chart Art Fair 2026 🤍

Presenting:
Manon Steyaert
Johannes Holt Iversen
Martin Paaskesen

Curated for CHART:
At Annika Nuttall Gallery, the viewer is invited into an immersive encounter where the works activate both space and perception. The presentation brings together works by Manon Steyaert (b. 1996) and Johannes Holt Iversen (b. 1989), whose sculptural wall-based objects unfold through light, reflection, and the movement of the viewer. Materiality and spatial interaction become central to the experience. In dialogue with these works, paintings by Martin Paaskesen (b. 1987) introduce an immediate and humorous figurative language, subtly embedded with iconoclastic gestures that challenge and destabilize the apparent clarity of the motif.

Toninho Dingl (b. 1988)
Lives and works in Altötting, Germany

Born in 1988 in Burghausen, Germany, Toninho Dingl studied Geography (BSc) and Geographies of Uneven Development (MSc) at the University of Salzburg before completing a Diploma in Painting and Printmaking under Professor Franz Ackermann at the Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe. In 2022, he was awarded the Melanchthon Art Prize by the City of Bretten.

Toninho Dingl’s work is characterized by a dialectical approach and treatment of things. He seeks to work out the contradictions or tensions that arise from everyday experiences, allowing the things themselves to speak—or even to dance. Following the maxim: the liquefaction of petrified conditions.
