Tangent Projects

Tangent Projects is an independent non-profit art space situated in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona. We house a non-commercial art gallery and provide seven affordable artist studios.

Our goal is to support artists in exploring unconventional paths within their artistic practice, encouraging experimentation and creative exploration. We believe in encouraging artists to "go off on a tangent."

Tangent Projects is dedicated to challenging inequality within the arts. We actively seek to give visibility to under-represented artists. Our mission is to showcase exemplary works, by

artists from a wide spectrum of backgrounds, across various media and platforms, including publications, exhibitions, residencies, performances, and online commissions.

In essence, our mission is to create an inclusive and equitable environment that celebrates innovation and nurtures a supportive community of creative expression. Tangent Projects invites artists to push the boundaries of their practice, all while advocating strongly for diversity and inclusivity in the art world.

"Over the course of almost two decades, Bruna Kury's artistic practice has been challenging the apparatuses of control, surveillance, and capture inscribed within the worldview of imperial-colonial whiteness.

Her solo exhibition "Hay que tener estómago" (You need a strong stomach) operates as a direct counterpoint to a reality traversed by these policies of annihilation. "

“In The Sun’s Northward Journey, Sejal Parekh explores the space between movement and stillness. Transforming the gallery into an echo chamber of light and suspension, Parekh invites us to inhabit a moment of paralysis — where the call fades into silence and the act of moving dilates into infinite stillness.

Through printmaking, installation, and sculpture, each piece becomes a portal where the promise of progress collides with the reality of being stuck: between interchanges that don’t translate, arbitrary borders, contradictory states of being, and materials never meant to touch.
