No museum pieces here, just works I saw in galleries and art fairs this past year.

They weren’t chosen for their names, rarity, or hype… I chose them because I genuinely wanted them. Because I felt something.

If I were rich, I would’ve bought them, no second thoughts.

While waiting for the first shows of 2026, I thought I’d look back at some of the artworks I haven’t stopped thinking about.

No museum pieces here, just works I saw in galleries and art fairs this past year.

سال ۲۰۲۵ پر بود از نمایشگاه‌هایی که غافلگیرم کردن… از اسم‌های بزرگ تا کشف‌های کوچیک، از مواجهه‌های ساکت تا شوک‌های بصری، یکی بعد از دیگری، هرکدوم اثری از خودشون به‌جا گذاشتن.

اینجا تعدادی‌ از نمایشگاه‌هایی که امسال دیدم رو باهاتون به اشتراک می‌ذارم. مروری شخصی از لحظه‌های سکون، شگفتی و تحسین.

“Door to the Cosmos” gathers four artists who each reach for something larger, through ancestry, abstraction, sound, or starlight.

Nick Cave blends climate, memory, and the body in a tense, hypnotic sculpture.

Zohra Opoku uses textile and mythology to explore life, death, and the maternal.

Michi Meko paints celestial maps out of fishing knots, Southern history, and night skies.

And George Clinton shows up with spaceships, atomic dogs, and paintings that feel like funk itself.

The show doesn’t tie everything together. It just opens portals.

On view at Mariane Ibrahim gallery until 13th December 2025

دری به کیهان چهار هنرمند را گرد هم می‌آورد که هرکدام به‌شیوه‌ای، در پی رسیدن به چیزی فراتر هستند.

نیک کیو حافظه، اقلیم و تن را در مجسمه‌ای پرتنش و هیپنوتیزم‌کننده در هم می‌‌آمیزد.

زُهرا اپوکو با استفاده از پارچه و اسطوره، مرگ، زندگی و جسم مادرانه را کاوش می‌کند.

میچی مِکو با گره‌های ماهیگیری، تاریخ جنوب آمریکا و آسمان شب، نقشه‌های کیهانی خلق می‌کند.

و جورج کلینتون با سفینه‌های فضایی، سگ‌های اتمی و نقاشی‌هایی از راه می‌رسد که انگار خودِ موسقی فانک هستند.

این نمایش قصد ندارد همه‌چیز را به هم وصل کن فقط دروازه‌هایی را به روی شما باز می‌کند.

For her exhibition “Cent sommeils”, Liselor Perez installed four sculptural figures inside the Église Saint-Eustache in Paris.

Made of resin, wood, fabric or leather, these forms didn’t stand tall or pose. They drooped, leaned, sat, quietly present, fragile, strangely human.

They weren’t built to impress, but to blend in. Not monumental, not heroic, just there, almost worn out, echoing the vulnerability of the human body rather than the grandeur of the space.

They looked like puppets, not to tell a single story, but to open many. Who placed them here? Why the silence? Why the stillness? Like ghosts or memories, they invite reflection more than explanation, and leave space for your own…

در مجموعه‌ «صد خواب»، لیزلور پرز چهار مجسمه را در بخش‌های مختلف کلیسای سن‌اوستاش در پاریس به نمایش گذاشت.

این پیکره‌ها از رزین، چوب، پارچه و چرم ساخته شده‌اند. آن‌ها ژست نمی‌گیرند یا نمی‌ایستند، بلکه نشسته‌اند، خم شده‌اند، یا به چیزی تکیه داده‌اند، طوری که انگار از خود فضا بیرون آمده‌اند و همیشه آن‌جا بوده‌اند.

پرز به‌جای ساختن مجسمه‌هایی بزرگ و تاثیرگذار، پیکره‌هایی با اندازه انسانی و حالتی آسیب‌پذیر خلق کرده. این انتخاب آگاهانه‌ است: هدفش این نیست که مجسمه‌ها چشم‌گیر یا قهرمانانه باشند، بلکه می‌خواهد حس انسانی‌تری به فضای مذهبی بدهد.

این آثار شبیه عروسک‌های خیمه‌شب‌بازی‌اند اما نه برای اجرای یک داستان مشخص، بلکه برای ایجاد فضایی باز که بیننده خودش بتواند برداشت شخصی‌اش را داشته باشد. انگار هر مجسمه یک پرسش بی‌کلام است، در سکوت، با حالتی که ذهن را به سمت خیال و تفسیر می‌برد.

Fresh from a major retrospective in Milan, the Italian painter presents recent works in Paris; bold, allegorical, and full of tension.

Adami’s paintings are instantly recognisable: flat, vivid colours; bold black outlines; fragmented bodies.

For him, painting is a way to think, through memory, myth, and doubt.

Each canvas feels like a closed scene: part theatre, part dream.

والریو آدامی با مجموعه‌ای از آثار جدیدش به پاریس برگشته.

نقاش ایتالیایی سبک منحصربه‌فردش رو دهه‌هاست که حفظ کرده: رنگ‌های تخت، خطوط واضح، بدن‌های تکه‌تکه و فضاهای بسته و نمادین.

آدامی همیشه بین خاطره، اسطوره و تردید در حرکته. نقاشی برای او فقط تصویر نیست، نوعی‌ فکر‌ کردنه.

به نظر من تابلوهاش شبیه صحنه‌هایی‌ان که انگار یه اتفاق قرار بوده توشون بیفته ولی درست قبل از اون لحظه همه چیز متوقف شده.

For most people, Paris Art Week 2025 already feels like a distant memory.
But not for me.

After a month filled with exhibitions in Paris and Istanbul, I’m only now finding the time to go through my camera roll, to remember, to process, to linger.

I’ve never been into reporting.
I share things when they settle.

So I’ll be posting at my own pace, even if the moment has technically passed.

Starting here, with Asia Now 2025, a fair I always enjoy for its smaller scale, unexpected juxtapositions, and quieter discoveries.

برای خیلی‌ها، هفته‌ی هنر پاریس ۲۰۲۵ دیگه تبدیل شده به یه خاطره‌ی دور.

ولی نه برای من.

بعد از یک ماه فشرده بین پاریس و استانبول که پر بود از نمایشگاه و بازدید موزه و دیدن آثار مختلف، حالا تازه وقت کردم برگردم سراغ عکس‌هام، به یاد بیارم، هضم کنم و با فاصله نگاه کنم.

به هر حال اگه منو دنبال میکنین، میدونین که من هیچ‌وقت دنبال گزارش لحظه‌ای نبودم و همیشه با ریتم خودم منتشر کردم، حتی اگه از زمان نمایشگا‌ها گذشته باشه.

با Asia Now 2025 شروع میکنیم، آرت‌فری که همیشه بخاطر مقیاس کوچیک‌ترش، ترکیب‌های غیرمنتظره و کشف‌های ساکتش برام دوست‌داشتنیه.
