Copper Kingdom Amlwch

Copper Kingdom Amlwch Parys Mountain Heritage Trail is operated by Amlwch Industrial Heritage Trust. We conserve the industrial and remarkable landscapes of Mynydd Parys.

Public visitors welcome for free, any commercial activity must be approved by the Trust, fees apply. The Copper Kingdom exhibition centre is located on the quayside in the picturesque fishing harbour of Amlwch port, Anglesey, North Wales. This awarding winning centre tells the tale of the copper industry in the area. Copper has been mined at Parys Mountain since the Bronze Age. Following the “Grea

t Discovery” 1768 the mine dominated the world price of copper. Over the next few years’ other industries grew up based on need to process, transport and exploit the copper found at the mountain. The Copper Kingdom exhibition centre is a family friendly location that can accommodate all ages. The Centre is wheel chair accessible and has a lift that will allow access to the first floor where an abundance of information is available i.e cinema, interactive touch table, children’s play area, information boards, artefacts. You will find that the workers (or Werin in Welsh) found life somewhat harder than the mine managers. You will also have chance to visit our re-creation of an underground mine.

⛏️ Datblygiadau ym Mynydd Parys | Parys Mountain Developments 🧱

Yn rhifyn yr wythnos hon o’r Holyhead and Anglesey Mail, rydw i'n croesawu’r cynlluniau ar gyfer canolfan ymwelwyr newydd ym Mynydd Parys.

Dyma gyfle gwych i ddathlu ein treftadaeth ddiwydiannol gyfoethog, a’i rhannu’n ehangach at bwrpas addysg, twristiaeth a balchder cymunedol. Rydw i’n ymlaen at weld y prosiect cyffrous hwn yn datblygu.

In this week’s Holyhead and Anglesey Mail, I warmly welcome the plans for a new visitor centre at Parys Mountain.

This is an opportunity to celebrate and honour our rich industrial heritage, while sharing it more widely for education, tourism, and community pride. I look forward to seeing this exciting project take shape.

Amlwch Industrial Heritage Trust, a local charity and managers of the Parys Mountain Heritage Trail since 1997, are developing plans for a new Visitor & Learning Centre to enhance both local and visitor experiences.
The project aims to broaden understanding of the unique natural environment and rich industrial heritage of this remarkable site. The centre will enable us to share stories of local community history, house our collection and a new exhibition, and provide much-needed facilities and shelter for visitors and local groups.

Our architects, MGMA, will be available on the day to explain the proposed design and to listen to your feedback. We look forward to seeing you.
