We've had a very busy couple of weeks recently.

Thanks to our friends at the University of South Wales - we now have a small robotics collection now with us.

We now have a Pioneer 3, a Robonova kit, aMitsubishi Movemaster EX Arm (if you've seen Jurassic Park!), some Robix kits and 2 Aldebaran Nao Robots!

We hope to get them working in the collection soon!

We've been very lucky to get our hands on a vast collection of service manuals recently......
We'll be processing them over the next few weeks and months..... but it's another really valuable collection!

For our final activity of the year (we're off on our Christmas break!) - we've had a little fun in tidying up our space, and testing out a few games.

Chequered Flag on the Spectrum brought back some interesting memories.
And we now have the theme tune for Jet Set W***y as an ear-worm.

Merry Christmas one and all.
We'll be back in the new year. 🙂

Fitting in with the University's calendar, our 2023 is coming to an end in the next week - we'll be open again in the new year.

Reflecting a little on the short time we've been going - We've had 9 weeks of operation in 2023 and nearly 200 visitors in that time. Considering we only open 3 lunchtimes a week - we think it's rather positive!

There will be more changes to come in the new year - and a few surprises we're working on.

Anyway - to take stock..... There are several hundred items now on display. And many things you can play with.

We've recently constructed a 'dawn of internet age' office setup which shows the typical technology things someone could see at work or a home office from mid to late 1990s - complete with information displays about what the press thought of this coming 'internet' technology. The setup contains a number of playable games, and the searchable Encarta encyclopaedia.

We've also been quite keen to make sure we keep older programming books and manuals, and associated information to make sure we have a reference section for visitors.
9 Weeks has turned into one entire shelf unit of books!

We still have staff on campus next week, but we're only able to offer booked visits on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - so email us if that would be of interest.

Other than that, we offer everyone season's greetings, and here's to further progress and development in 2024!

☺️

We went fishing through the storage boxes today to find some software to go with the ZX Spectrum..... Luckily we found a few things!

A new machine is now out on display.... A ZX Spectrum with WHSmiths tape drive.

There was an initial issue of the tape socket not working - but after a bit of cleaning and testing on the workbench..... we have lift off.

What games should we try and get on it?

We've already got a number, but we'll try and increase the collection!

We've been a little busy over the last few weeks, but it's been worth it, as we now have quite a few things out on display. The space has also been much in demand for meetings and events......
Since the start of semester many staff and students have come along to see us.

We've also started processing some of the equipment in storage to see if even more can be put into working condition.

We have some general opening hours - https://blogs.bath.ac.uk/eta/opening-hours/ - but we can also arrange slots to come in around them when the space is not in use!

We'll be open until 14 Dec (drop in at lunchtimes), and after that there's some rearrangement going on, so we can have more equipment on display and in the demonstration areas.
