Dates coming soon.
Please follow the gallery here for details as they are released.

Celebrating The Specials’ first studio album in over 30 years, ‘Encore’ made waves in 2019, going on to become the band’s first ever number one album. This artwork by Horace Panter commemorates the 40th Anniversary World Tour that followed, blending the energy of their iconic sound with Panter’s signature bold and vibrant style. #

Horace transforms the tour pass into a collectible piece of Pop Art, capturing the essence of the band’s ongoing influence and cultural legacy.

Presenting George Condo's Fashion Model (2025), a Limited Edition of 150, measuring 75 x 81 cm.
This artwork features 27 colour silkscreen with spot colours on 600gsm Somerset Tub Sized Radiant White paper.

George Condo seamlessly blends beauty with the grotesque.
The subject, with elongated legs, sleek blonde hair, and a classic pose, radiates the allure of a supermodel. Yet, her flawless image is disrupted by George’s ‘psychological cubism’—an effort to depict various mental states in a single portrait. To manifest the internal turmoil, George illustrates her head transforming into a nose lined with rows of teeth. Consequently, the figure critiques how dominant beauty norms distort our view of reality.

George Condo's unique creations have caught the eye of renowned art collectors and celebrities alike. In April, Sotheby's wrapped up a two-week-long online auction, part of their eighth London contemporary curated series. The event, overseen by heiress Margherita Missoni, raked in £5.1 million, representing the highest revenue for an online auction by the auction house to date. Condo's piece, Antipodal Reunion, stood out as one of the top sellers, drawing a barrage of swift bids and fetching a final price of £1.1 million, surpassing its upper estimate of £800,000 and becoming the most expensive artwork ever sold in an online-only auction by the company.

George Condo - Portrait & Head (2024)
Limited Edition of 150
75 x 86 cm
33-color silkscreen with spot hues on 600gsm Somerset Tub Sized Radiant White paper

George Condo offers a disquieting view into the complexities of the human mind.

Both bizarre and recognisable, Portrait and Head captures elusive emotional conditions. Condo artistically reconstructs methods from 20th Century icons such as Picasso and de Kooning, referring to his approach as ‘Psychological Cubism’. The portrait merges human characteristics with geometric motifs, providing a layered perspective on human feelings.

“Picasso painted a violin from four different perspectives at one time. I do the same with psychological states. Four of them can occur simultaneously. Like glimpsing a bus with one passenger howling over a joke they’re hearing down the phone, someone else asleep, someone else crying.”

Collectors and dealers are increasingly coming to the realisation that if an artwork is featured on Forward Gallery's website, it's indeed in our collection!
This can sometimes lead to a surge of interest and a large number of requests for the same piece from various individuals who are eager to obtain a specific artwork. Today's post perfectly illustrates this situation, a Bridget Riley currently on display at our Birmingham location!

Bridget Riley - Winged Curve (1966)
(Signed edition of 75)
63 x 58 cm
Signed Screen-print on Paper
https://www.forwardgallery.com/artist/bridget-riley/winged-curve-signed-edition-of-75

Although printed in 1966, Winged Curve was not published at that time. The work had been printed on rectangular sheets and Riley felt, then, that the image had not quite worked. The edition was kept in the studio and it was upon rediscovery and long consideration, around the turn of the century, that the decision was taken to crop the sheet to the near-square format that we see today. This adjustment resolved Riley's concerns and, happily, the edition was signed and released in 2001.

Other pieces from this series released in 1966 have recently fetched over £70,000 at auction, making this an intriguing acquisition for any Riley enthusiast.
