A massive Ozzy Osbourne mural has been unveiled in the small Welsh town of Abertillery.

Based on a black-and-white photo of Ozzy Osbourne captured by late-great photographer Mick Hutson, the fan-funded mural adorns the side of the Kenny’s Vinyl Vault record shop.

Created by the artist Walls by Paul and completed today (Wednesday 10th December), the impressive mural also features the iconic Ozzy logo and the words ‘In Loving Memory 1948 – 2025’.

Speaking to Planet Rock, eponymous Kenny’s Vinyl Vault owner Lee ‘Kenny’ Kendrick says: "The motivation for the Ozzy mural came about not long after his passing in July. It made me realise how much he meant to me and the rest of my family.

"Ozzy came into my life as a 13-year-old back in 1986. Before hearing Black Sabbath I had only been exposed to the top 40 and a weekly dose of Top of the Pops. I liked music but after hearing Sabbath my life changed. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I became obsessed with all things heavy metal and Ozzy spoke to me more than anyone else. I taught myself how to play the drums and was a member of 3 signed bands and played with heroes of mine."

"Without Ozzy my obsession with music never would have happened and I definitely wouldn’t be the owner of a record shop now!"

Kenny continued: "Ozzy was with me throughout my life. I followed his career with passion and saw him live many times as a solo artist and twice with Black Sabbath.
We always said that it would be a sad day in the Kendrick household when he dies. Ozzy was like a family member, a friend and a mentor. We were devastated when he passed.

"The idea of a memorial mural felt like a fitting tribute. After getting permission from the landlord and the local authority, we set up a GoFundMe and raised the funds for the artist - Walls By Paul to paint the mural. The money was raised in less than 10 hours, we were gobsmacked….

"The mural is now a community project, owned by the community of Abertillery and beyond."

Kenny's Vinyl Vault will host an Ozzy celebration day on Saturday 20th December.
