With this weekend’s event that was at Alresford Hall, it would have been rude not to visit and pay our respects to Sir George Lisle.

The memorial — a Victorian granite obelisk — marks the exact spot where the Royalist commanders Sir Charles Lucas and Sir George Lisle were executed by firing squad on 28 August 1648, at the end of the English Civil War.

The Lucas and Lisle monument stands in Castle Park, directly behind Colchester Castle in Colchester, Essex.
