Our first meeting of the year was also our first display! Once more, we were hosted by Historylinks Museum, Dornoch, Sutherland, and once more many of the local media got the dates and times wrong... :D But we didn't care, we had a fun and relaxed time, and the visitors we *did* get were engaged, enthusiastic and keen to find out stuff. Our thanks to Peter for the attached photos: Roz sewing the never-ending piece of cloth, Alex making a leather quiver and Morag the Queen of da Bling... showing off the bling ;) But also wrestling her tablet-weaving, a Black Art if ever there was one!

Just got my copy of "Rhynie, A Powerful Place of Pictland" edited Gordon Noble, published Society Antiquaries Scotland. This sets out the results from excavations of the Craw Stanes, Tap o Noth and Cairn Mor. It provides new insight into Northern Pictish settlement, power and culture. I highly recommend this brilliant volume to anyone who is interested in learning about the latest archaeological evidence. ❤️

Catu is celebrating its first birthday. We will be doing a living history weekend at Historylinks for the Dornoch Spring Festival on 11 and 12 April. It will be the first meeting of the year so come and see us if you can.

Have been demonstrating tablet weaving and naal binding at Fibre Fest this weekend. Had a look at Historylinks golf fasion exhibition. I like these plus fours and setting aside the modern fly they are not dissimilar from Pictish breechs.
