Kicking off a new month thinking about who I work with.

The best time to get in touch is when you are planning, you don't need to wait until you have all the funding to start a conversation.

Great to see Worcestershire's heritage being shared

Today is , which marks the escape of Charles II from England in 1651. Following the Royalist defeat at Battle of Worcester, he was forced to flee and had many adventures on the journey, most famously hiding up an oak tree in Boscobel Wood, before setting sail for France.

Check out our page exploring some glorious churches along his escape route: https://www.nationalchurchestrust.org/explore/story/oak-apple-day

And if that whets your appetite, take a look at our Worcestershire page to see more churches in the area: https://www.nationalchurchestrust.org/explore/central-england/worcestershire

How did they not realise this beauty was literally under their feet?

Recently revealed in the Lady Chapel at the church in Worcestershire, they believe it is an extremely rare Cosmatesque Pavement floor. The only other one they know of is in Abbey. If anyone can help them learn more about the floor they would love to hear from you.

In the meantime you can read more about it over on their website:
www.sacredheartdroitwich.org.uk/additional-restoration-work/

The floor is currently being restored thanks to the support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Droitwich Preservation Trust

SHELSLEY WATER MILL OPEN WEEKEND
23rd – 24th May 2026
(10am- 4pm)

Situated in the heart of the beautiful Teme Valley, many will know Shelsley Walsh as an historic motor sport venue, and home to the Midland Auto Mobile Club (MAC).
But did you know that the MAC is also fortunate to have a working water mill on the same site? Many features of the restored mill date from the 17th century, but records do indicate that there has been a mill on this site going as far back as 1308.
Now, after many years of extensive renovations by the volunteers, The Shelsley Watermill is the only functioning water powered corn mill left in Worcestershire.
Over the weekend of 23rd -24th May the volunteers, who have restored the mill, and now operate it, will be hosting a FREE (though any donations on the day will be gratefully received) open weekend for people to see first-hand how the mill works and what corn being milled into flour.
In addition, there will be a display of classic vehicles and steam engine of a by gone era on display, as well as access to the 13th century St Andrews Church which is just next door.
Teas, coffees and cakes will be available for purchase on the day.
And for those who are unfamiliar with the historic hill climb course, come and take the opportunity to walk the 1000-yard course and work up an appetite for another slice of homemade cake.
Make it a family day out.

You can find us at Shelsley Walsh, WR6 6RP
