Well, Cornwall Open Studios has now ended. A big thank you to everyone who came in, bought something or had a cup of tea and a chat. The biggest thanks go to the lady who said that art should cause a reaction or emotion in the viewer, but most artists forget that this can be laughter. She told me that she'd seen 20+ other studios and my work was the most original she'd seen and was also the only work that gave the genuine impression of not giving a s**t about what the artworld thought 😂

Although Open Studios has now ended, feel free to come in at any time. Keep an eye on the Goat Gallery FB to see when we're open.

Natural duality - Gis Harris
Join us to celebrate this incredible collection of work, it definitely won’t be one to miss.

Bio -

Derek 'Gis' Harris was born in 1968 and grew up in Hayle, Cornwall. As a child, he loved painting and drawing, often using only black. Later, he found inspiration in Marvel comics and science fiction movies.

As a teenager, he earned recognition from older friends by replicating record covers on their leather jackets and painting song lyrics in distinctive fonts.

His school’s expectations didn’t align with his own artistically, and as such, helped develop his personal approach.

Gis studied an Art and Design Diploma at Falmouth College of Arts in 1998. Being a new parent, his priorities shifted, but his passion for creating never faded, his other passions of skateboarding and drumming taking the focus.

Recently, his career has started to gain attention, with a growing group of collectors both locally and internationally.

Currently, Gis has returned to his roots in surrealism using charcoal, moving forwards he has started using sculpture to bring a true authenticity to his work.

I would like to thank the Goat Gallery for inviting me to exhibit here.
