Today I watched 50 children become pet portrait artists for the morning and my goodness they were brilliant!

We built characterful dogs from simple shapes, scribbly lines, fluffy textures and loose earthy colours. What I loved most was seeing how differently every child interpreted the same ideas. Some dogs looked gentle and sleepy, some completely chaotic, some hilariously expressive.

There's something really special about watching children realise that art does not have to be perfect to be beautiful.

I went in hoping to help them feel creative and left wishing we'd had longer.

A huge thank you to Clifton Primary School for inviting me in to run the workshop at Rheged Centre . I honestly had such a lovely morning.

Ohh Daisy! Just look at that nose!! 🥰😍 What an absolute joy she has been to paint today. A red fox rescue with the kindest eyes and most boopable nose. She's all wrapped up ready to be sent off home tomorrow ✉️

Painted with all the warmth and chaos I love most. Meet Thor

I'm always drawn to the imperfect little details in pet portraits. The scruffy fur, the intensity in their eyes, the slightly wonky markings that make them completely themselves.

I wanted this one to feel soft, earthy, and full of personality.

Thor will sit side by side with his Spaniel sister Ruby (my last portrait) when they go home together this coming week

To this day the spaniel remains one of my favourite breeds to paint. There is just so much intelligence in their eyes and those wonderfully wild ears. 😍
This beautiful girl is Ruby. Her owner Faye was the lucky winner of one of my pet portrait commissions through a competition run by the Cumbria Police Dog Benevolent Fund .
It was such a joy bringing Ruby to life in paint. Faye actually has two lovely dogs, so next week I will be painting her other pup Thor and I cannot wait to start.

In progress on this Irish Terrier portrait. I’m really loving how his wiry fur is starting to come through. It’s wild and wet and freezing outside today, so sitting quietly with pencils and paper feels like a small kind of luxury. ♥️

Meet Luna 🤍

A lovely golden girl with bright eyes and that unmistakable quiet intelligence that Jack Russells seem to carry.

I want these portraits to feel honest, warm, and quietly familiar.
Like the dog you know and love, not just a picture of them.

As always, thank you for looking. If you would love a portrait of your own animal companion, my commissions are open 🤍

The lovely Linda asked me to paint her friends two cats as a gift… honestly, how thoughtful is that? ♥️

These two were such a joy to paint. I shared Preston’s portrait earlier in the year, and this beauty is the second, Nexy.
Both portraits have now travelled all the way to Switzerland to live with Hilary. Which feels like a magical place for my art to end up.
It never stops amazing me how generous people can be when choosing something meaningful for someone they love.
It’s genuinely one of the best parts of what I do. Getting to witness those little acts of kindness and be a small part of them. It brings me so much joy. 🌿😍🌟

Lake District Pet Portraits has a refreshed logo 🐾 — designed to sit alongside my creative home, Savannah Wild – Studio 🌿.

Both logos share the same arch and botanicals, but here the focus is on what I love most — your pets. 💛

You can see other lovely wildlife art and creations on my studio page!

Don't forget to make sure both pages have a follow!

Thank you for being part of this journey! ♥️🐾

Today is National Dog Day 🐕 ♥️🐾

A lovely reminder of just how much our dogs bring into our lives – from muddy walks to quiet evenings on the sofa.

I’ve been lucky enough to draw so many of your beautiful dogs this year, each with their own character and story. Feeling grateful to spend my days celebrating them through art 🎨💛

Never stop letting me love your dogs!

If you’d love a portrait of your own dog, my order book is open – send me a message to chat about a commission.
