Folk who played in Cow Beck and Hawksworth woods may not realise the old stone buildings on Hawksworth Road were a working mill occupied in the 1800,s by the Fell family, who owned the Horse and Jockey Public House changing its name to the Queens Arms. Mr Fell also managed Cookridge Silk Mill on Low Lane Horsforth you may remember as Wilsons. Well thought of by the community, Benjamin Fell died in 1888 whilst living with his son. This is the Coroners Report ironically conducted in the Queens Arms. Verdict accidentally fell!

The next day Barbara was missed, she could have slept at her grandma’s house off Broadgate Lane, or at her little friend’s. Saturday night was lively in the Bull, her dad would have been called to help behind the bar, she may have been collecting glasses, and no doubt sipping the dregs. Well known in the village everyone wanted to help.
