I recommend that anyone and everyone should take the opportunity to sign up for an art school foundation course.

Usually lasting for one or two years and intended to offer a grounding in many aspects of art to help one decide what kind of degree course to take.

I went to Epsom for a one-year course and it involved photography, silk-screen printing, drawing, etching, performance art, jewelry making, sculpture, illustration, and graphics.

Here is a photograph that a fellow student (Andrea Mallett) took of me being pretentious during one of the best years of my educational experience.

A few copies of this fabulous print have emerged from my mum’s attic.

From the self-portrait in blood which Peter famously drew in less than five minutes using his own blood for ink and a syringe and his thumb as brushes onto 50 cms x 50 cms thick card.
