The "Phoneosaurus Rex"

🇬🇧🚨 MAJOR UK PALAEONTOLOGICAL DISCOVERY! 🚧🚨

Absolute shock on the streets of London this morning! What was meant to be routine maintenance to fix the floor grate of a classic Red Telephone Box in Bloomsbury has unearthed something monumental.

Workers for BT/Openreach called in experts from the natural history museum (NHM) after finding a "large, unusual rock" just 2 feet down. They have just confirmed it is a fossilized brow horn of a juvenile Triceratops! 🦖🦴

Initial theories suggest that this unique patch of clay (which preserves organic material exceptionally well) was pushed south from its original Cretaceous location.

NHM’s lead Palaeontologist said, "It’s statistically absurd, but here it is. We are pausing all traffic and utilities to excavate the rest of the street. It’s a paleontological breakthrough right under our feet."

The phone box is being temporarily relocated to the British Museum for preservation while the dig continues. Unbelievable! 🇬🇧🤯

What are these you might ask? These are dental tooth plates. They are related to the modern day bony tongue fishes. They are often sold as Dinosaur armoured scutes (osteoderms) but they are not, they are most definitely fish remains and you can often find them still attached to the skull which confirms the location of these dental tongue plates.

I'm currently working on UK Trilobites, these should be on shortly, hopefully not too long, these were photographed when I got a sunny day (rare as hen's teeth now!) as I do like to do these outside, the natural light is far better. I'll let you know as soon as they are uploaded.

A new batch of plants added from the Permian deposits of Saxony, Germany. These are from an old collection. I've recently cleaned these up so they are now ready and uploaded. There is also some sets of plants for study on the bulk page, from the same beds. I believe these were found in the 1980s, this is part of an old collection.
