About Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children's Books

Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books, works with children's books to create playful and profound experiences for children and young people, in order to fire their imaginations and creativity and deepen their understanding of themselves and the world. Located in a converted Victorian warehouse in the Ouseburn Valley in Newcastle upon Tyne Seven Stories offers visitors seven floors of galleries, creative spaces, a specialist independent children's bookshop and a cafe to explore. Seven Stories has a superb collection of artwork, manuscripts and archives by British writers and illustrators for children, from the 1930s to the present day, including work by figures such as Enid Blyton, Judith Kerr, Nick Sharratt, Philip Pullman and David Almond. Seven Stories is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation and an Accredited Museum.

We're so proud of the collaborative work between Newcastle Hospitals Charity and Seven Stories The National Centre for Children's Books within the Arts Programme.

Seven Stories and Newcastle Hospitals Charity have launched a special storytelling initiative! The programme brings professional storytellers directly into The Great North Children's Hospital and Freeman Hospital to deliver creative storytelling experiences that spark joy.

The impact has already proven meaningful, with over 430 contacts with young patients and families to date!

By combining the love of stories at Seven Stories and the amazing care of Newcastle Hospitals Charity, we are making a real difference in keeping children uplifted, engaged and imaginative when they are in hospital.

Check out the story through the link in our bio.
