Our final exhibition of 2025 ‘A Natural View’ is now on at the Allen Hall Gallery. If you are out and about near Glandford, do take a look! Postcode is NR25 7JP, located along with Birdscapes Gallery and Cley Spey, Manor Farm Barns, Glandford.

I have had several people ask about Swallowtail Fine Artists so here’s more about us!

We (Amanda, Lorraine and Tony) came together in 2022 with a view to exhibiting as a trio, ideally in new and different venues. After talking about possibilities over lunch accompanied by a glass of vino at Amanda’s, Swallowtail Fine Artists was created. Each of us have an interest in Natural World subjects but interpret these in different ways, using different mediums.

After a successful first outing in November of that year, along with the help of Dennis, Swallowtails have since gone on to exhibit as a trio (in addition to our other art interests) at a variety of venues in Norfolk and Suffolk. One of our highlights is running what has since become the very popular annual August Art Ludham Fine Art exhibition where selected guest artists are invited to exhibit alongside the trio.

We each bring different skills to the team and have been really pleased with how Swallowtails has evolved.

After a successful 3rd Art Ludham art exhibition, we’d like to say a big thank you. Firstly, thanks to all our guest artists and visitors and customers to the exhibition for your support. We hope you enjoyed it! Thanks to hubby Dennis, an honorary Swallowtail, for helping with everything, and to Amanda’s Mum, artist Margaret Springall, for catering at the preview evening and helping throughout the exhibition. Thanks to James and Kevin too. Thanks to Dr Holly Hancock for playing piano so beautifully at the preview evening. Finally, we’d also like to say a big thank you to Ken and all the volunteers at St Catherines Church Ludham for your hard work and making us feel so welcome.

Amanda Springall-Rogers completes the trio of founder members of Swallowtail Fine Artists.

North-Norfolk based artist Amanda predominantly uses all forms of pastel to create realistic paintings of wildlife and Natural World subjects, often inspired by the beautiful countryside and Broads of Norfolk. Amanda also loves working with charcoal and experiments with other mediums and new techniques. She exhibits locally and further a field and is really looking forward to welcoming all who have visited us at Art Ludham before and those who will be visiting the exhibition for the first time.

Our final guest artist, Sandra Penstone-Smith, joins us for the first time this year at Art Ludham. North Norfolk based, self-taught artist Sandra likes to re-interpret the views that she sees on her walks around the local area, finding inspiration from the flora and fauna, buildings and water. She recreates what she sees with collage, paint, ink, pastels and anything else that lends itself to helping create an interesting, thought-provoking piece of work.

Lorraine Auton, another founder member, will be displaying her usual acrylic wildlife paintings. Lorraine aims to represent scenes that are atmospheric snapshots of the natural world. She enjoys rich or vivid colour schemes and experiments with painting on different surfaces other than canvas. Lorraine runs art classes from The Studio Above in Acle.
