I’ve been trying to work with the cool January light in the garden, and especially with the lines of the monkey puzzle tree that overlooks the studio. The garden is such a haven for nature, but we have lost three trees last year from the storms we have had. And the neighbors have cut down three trees and are trying to pressure me into cutting down more. I am in the process of trying to secure preservation orders on the remaining trees. Two nights ago I found a tawny owl sheltering in the studio, so I wonder if he had a nest in the oak tree that has fallen during the storm. He was fed and then released at dusk

Sometimes I look around the studio and there is one work sitting next to another and together they imbue a different kind of meaning to each other. The influence of one colour against the other imbues intensity to each and heightens the tension and effect. Today I’m playing with these ideas and seeing what happens
