Adelle Antony first exhibition with us is called 'Time and Eternity' and 'Held in Time'.

‘Time and Eternity’ is based on a series of paper chains using paper ephemeral. Things like old note book pages belonging to her grandparents, sweet wrappers and other mundane personal material are used to express the transcendental nature of the present.

‘Held in Time’ are prints to show the continuity of time, and asks you to stop and be present.

Our 'Meet the Artist' is 1pm - 3pm Saturday 11th July in the Coffee area of the Community Centre
St Nicolas of Earley Sutcliffe Avenue Earley.

SO SORRY. The Meet the artist today has been cancelled due to extreme heat.
Rather fitting for an exhibition on climate issues? The paintings will be up until the end of the month.

Our June artist is Moyna who is inspired by theme of Climate Change to create a series of paintings called 'Turbulent Skys'.
This is part of Reading’s Climate Festival lasting two weeks from 6th June and St Nicolas Church ‘Summer Fair’ also starting on 6th June.
Emma Major a second local artist will be creating an installation about cities in flood at the same time as St Nicolas Fair.
Moyna will be present on the 6th June after 1pm and aims to have a Meet the Artist event Saturday 27th June 2pm - 4pm.

For the whole of May we have a new exhibition by Kajsa Longuere. She was inspired by the Christian festival of Pentecost when the Spirit of God in the form of tongues of flames descended on believers.
Not as well-known as Christmas or Easter this important day is often celebrated as the 'Birthday of the Church' and occurs 50 days after Easter.
This year it happens on the 24th May.

Just between our two main exhibitions a chance inform you of our open day Artists Trading Card show or ACEO ("Art Cards, Editions, and Originals"). We are asking for miniature, handmade, artworks measuring exactly 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches the size of a traditional standard trading card.

The open session will be a chance to meet other artists in the area, see their work and maybe exchange these cards.
As one artist said - Reject AI slop and see real art!

24th May 12pm -3pm
25th May 1pm – 3pm

We are looking for anyone who wants to have a go. These cards were just submitted, Thank you.

We are swapping artists this week so there is a little sliver of time to thank Nila for her contribution to the patchwork 'Earley One square at a time 2024'. She would like it to be on the patchwork itself and knows that is not possible, but it is in the book and a delightful image of the friendships between neighbours in our area.
It fully expresses ideas inspiring the original textile art work.
Thank you Nila!
