This is the latest object to go on display in the museum, kindly loaned to us by John Portman.
The photo inside is of Herbert Crawshaw a local Knurr and Spell player, this piece serving as a dedication to him being the "world's champion" in 1909.

Demolition of the exterior of Stocksbridge Library took place today just like demolition of the houses on Button Row on the same spot happened some 57 years ago. When it opened in 1968 it replaced the previous library in the British Hall that had been demolished a few years earlier (this stood where the precinct is now).

Video footage of the demolition at Button Row and opening of the new library is in a parochial video of the area available on our YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/oL0kXQXyFk4

(thanks to Michael Parker for his photographs of the demolition from today)

To mark the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day we've looked back to 1945 and the celebrations that took place across Stocksbridge and Deepcar. These lasted several days and were reported on in the local newspaper, the Pen*stone, Stocksbridge & Hoyland Express where the following articles come from.

These images form a part of Michael Parker's collection with the society and we thank him for sharing them with us.

We're set up and ready at the Venue Stocksbridge today our stand is located in the main hall.
