A recent donation to the society was this photograph from Liz Rhodes, possibly at a VE day celebration at Sheldon Road taken by her grandfather George Castledine.

Hopefully people might be able to spot some familiar faces on here.

Tonight's talk by George Scogings will be about the history of the South Yorkshire Asylum at Middlewood from 1872 to 1915 with reference to people from the Stocksbridge area who were patients in this time period.

There will also be an update about next months grand day out scheduled for the 13th August.

A reminder that tonight is the societies meeting at Christ Church at 7PM.

The talk is by Eric Jackson about the women who worked at the Barnbow munitions factory in the First World War.
