A re-edit of Jutta Reimann’s “Mr Barnabas Pyke” from several years ago. Geoff Walker is quite wonderful in the role. Clearly Geoff missed his vocation and should really have spent a career gracing our TV screens in the likes of Downton Abbey.

Big things are stirring down at our Colliery - but we need your help!

Progress on reopening the ¾ mile section from Dilhorne Park to our Foxfield Colliery terminus has been considerable. Last open to passenger trains in the early 1980s, the notoriously steep Foxfield Bank section of the line has had major repairs carried out. Meanwhile a dedicated team of members has been carrying out site clearance and building repairs at Foxfield Colliery itself.

The current phase of the project is to to make the site safe for public access and allow trains to run on the Foxfield Bank section of the line once more.

The full project will see platform improvements, the winding house roof replaced, our iconic headgear restored, a museum established and a return of passenger trains to this section.

Having recently spent over £20,000 to support the project the Society now needs your financial support to raise £250,000 required to complete the current phase of the project.
