⛏️ Women in STEM 2027 8th-12th February – Two School Spaces Remaining! 🔬

We’re delighted to announce that we’ll once again be hosting our popular Women in STEM event at King Edward Mine Museum this February! 🎉

These exciting activity days celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, inspiring the next generation of female scientists, engineers and innovators.

Students will have the opportunity to explore STEM in a real mining heritage setting, take on hands-on engineering challenges and meet women working in STEM careers.

📣 We currently have just TWO spaces remaining for secondary schools!

If your school would like to get involved and give your students an inspiring, hands-on STEM experience, please get in touch to find out more.

Let’s encourage more girls to see a future for themselves in STEM! 💡👷‍♀️🧪

John and I like to keep up to date with what’s happening across Cornwall’s mining industry, including the work being carried out by Cornish Lithium and Cornish Metals.

We believe it’s really important that when school groups visit King Edward Mine Museum, we can talk to them not only about Cornwall’s fascinating mining past, but also about mining today and what the future might look like.

By visiting sites and finding out more about the work happening now, we can make sure we’re well informed when we talk to children about the different technologies, skills and career opportunities available to them in the modern mining industry.

Today, while visiting Cornish Lithium, we also had the opportunity to network with Suzie Doe from Minerals Matter, who is always happy to support our events and activities — another great connection for us to have within the industry.

And the learning doesn’t have to stop when a school leaves King Edward Mine! Teachers can continue exploring modern mining with a visit to Cornish Lithium, or through an outreach visit from Cornish Metals.

If you’re a school looking for a visit that brings Cornwall’s mining story to life and connects it with STEM, sustainability and future careers, we’d love to welcome your group to King Edward Mine Museum. Get in touch to find out more about our school visits and activities. 😊
