What happens when we bring art to where people already are?

One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about the traveling exhibition Mujer Hondureña: Raíz, Arte y Fuerza organized by Estudio 1331 Honduras and Mua: Mujeres en las Artes has been seeing it move beyond traditional cultural spaces and connect with new audiences.

In Honduras, visiting a gallery, museum, or exhibition isn’t yet part of everyone’s everyday experience. That’s why it’s also important to think about how we can bring art into the spaces that are already part of people’s daily lives.

At this stop, the exhibition came to a shopping center. In between errands, shopping, and everyday routines, we watched people stop in front of a piece, step closer to take a better look, talk about what they were seeing, and discover artists they might not have encountered otherwise.

And I think there’s something important in that.

Access to art isn’t only about opening the doors to cultural spaces. Sometimes, it also means taking art beyond those doors.

I’m happy to be part of an exhibition that continues to move, create encounters, and bring the work of Honduran women artists into new spaces and in front of new audiences.

Reminiscing about past projects as I sat down with my mentor to talk about my professional journey.

The print in the center was created as a limited-edition print for Carolina Herrera Honduras through D’AGENCY Art.

Looking back at it made me realize it might finally be time to update my website and share more of the story behind projects like this one.

A quiet dialogue in black and white.
Individual study meets collective exploration.

Here’s a closer look at the pieces I shared at Raíz, arte y fuerza — displayed in the middle of everyday movement, where art met unexpected viewers.
