Fire Escape

Fire Escape Contemporary Art Fire Escape Contemporary Art [Escalera de Incendios] is an Art Concept which works with independent and emerging artists and projects.

It works from the cloud representing different artists in different disciplines, also, running peculiar actions in random locations. As a dynamic gallery space provides opportunities for virtual and pop-up exhibitions. Representing public art projects and performance-based work for audiences. Hence, you can find us in unusual spaces with proposals that will awaken your critical thinking and awaren

ess of the aesthetic. Directed by Anna García Solana, artist and independent art curator. It was born in 2012 in Barcelona with the main goal of democratising the art, breaking barriers between artist and audience. Facilitating access to art and culture for all the audiences through exhibitions, actions, talks, workshops, markets, fairs and art festivals. Since the beginning, it has been defined as a cultural lab where critique and thought are present. Furthermore, an open place for reflection, production and thinking development. In 2019, it was transferred to Melbourne (Australia) exploring new opportunities and different ways to develop creative projects.

A M A L A N

ARTJOG 2025. The meaning of practice in ARTJOG this year is not tied to dictionary definitions that emphasize the ‘cliché’ of merit. Practice in the art world is formed both intrinsically and extrinsically, inside and outside the scope of language. Amalan here is the practiced behavior of a subject, be it aesthetic, social, political, textual, religious, or however else one may look at it. The artist’s relationship with the world is an embodied intertwining of perception, and vice versa. With this, we can begin to discuss the goodness of our communal life, and works of art can be seen as a ‘gift’ for the world beyond the calculations of profits and losses, whose values often cannot be measured.

“Yolngu power: The art of Yirrkala”

The artistic expression of Yirrkala is profoundly connected to its cultural, political, and social history. For almost 100 years, artists from this small community in Northeast Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia have shared art as a means of cultural diplomacy - as a respectful assertion of power in its diverse forms, from sovereignty to influence, authority and control, to energy, strength and pride.

In solidarity with Khaled Sabsabi and Michael Dagostino, Fire Escape opposes the withdrawal of support from Creative Australia for the Australia’s 2026 Venice Biennale representatives, as it threatens artistic independence, principled resilience, intellectual freedom, and critical thinking.
