"Emerging Challenges for Cyber-security and Protection of Personal Digital Identity" by Mr Sandip Sengupta, founder / Director of ISOAH Data Securities Pvt. Ltd. (Indian School of Anti Hacking), dealt with challenges, dangers we face 24x7 in our personal, business and social lives and how we can overcome those on 25th May 2019 at the Grand Masonic Lodge premises.
The history of cyber security began with a research project in 1972 when Bob Thomas realized that it was possible for a computer program to move across a network, leaving a small trail wherever it went. Ray Tomlinson (yes, the same guy who invented email) saw this idea and liked it. He tinkered with the program and made it self-replicating—the first computer worm. Then he wrote another program—Reaper, the first antivirus software—which would chase Creeper and delete it
Cyber security is the protection of E systems from theft or damage to their hardware, software or electronic data, as well as from disruption or misdirection of the services they provide.
How we are compromised on daily basis due to increasing reliance on computer systems, the Internet and wireless networks such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and due to the growth of "smart" devices, including smartphones, televisions cctvs and the various devices that constitute the Internet of things were lucidly explained by Mr Sengupta, an ethical hacker and he also gave useful tips towards minimizing the impact. A large audience comprising of partner organizations and individuals took part with several questions to the cyber expert Mr Sengupta at the end of his deliberations.
University Women's Association of Calcutta Led by it's President Mrs Shyamashree Sen ( she introduced the speaker) joined Eastern Chamber of Commerce led by it's President Mr Subir Dutta ( he offered the formal expression of gratitude on behalf of all the partners). Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan were the venue partners. Hony Secretary Mr Subhojit Roy conducted the proceedings on behalf of Eastern Chamber of Commerce.
