The intimacy and poetry of the exhibition’s meaning are captured in some words, written in Mandarin that bear witness to this “long goodbye” as a dialogue between the two protagonists of this metaphor of life.

Don’t ask me how can I loved working onthe set up of this exhibition
Don’t even ask me how much I care about Peng Hsiung’s works.
Don’t ask me how many sensitive people I’m meeting because they’re drawn to this “window of temptation.”

I wouldn’t have the words to explain all this.

Black horses, blue horses presenterà tracce
del viaggio dell’artista: ricevute, biglietti di treni e aerei, scontrini, ingressi a mostre e
concerti raccolti durante i suoi spostamenti tra Taiwan, Giappone, Italia, Praga e Parigi.

Questi frammenti di vita, ciascuno arricchito da un piccolo disegno, sono accostati a
biscotti della fortuna e offerti al pubblico come parte integrante dell’opera.

I visitatori potranno portare con sé uno di questi elementi, trasformando l’esperienza espositiva in
un gesto di condivisione e augurio.

Presents traces of the artist’s journey: receipts, train and flight tickets, restaurant bills, and entries to exhibitions and concerts collected during his travels across Taiwan, Japan, Italy, Prague, and Paris.
These fragments of life, each enriched with a small drawing, are paired with fortune cookies and offered to the audience as an integral part of the work. Visitors are invited to take one with them, transforming the exhibition experience into a gesture of sharing and good fortune. The cookies will be distributed free of charge during the opening on May 14 starting at 6:00 PM.
Black Horses, Blue Horses thus emerges as a visual and emotional narrative about separation, growth, and the possibility of transforming memory and travel into an opening toward the future.

Big Eyes art gallery is proud to present the exhibition “Black horses, blue horses” a solo show by Peng Hsiung

The project draws inspiration from the Year of Horse in Chinese tradition which embodies courage, independence, and a desire for emancipation.

At the core of Peng Hsuing’s research lies the relationship with his mother, who remains in Taiwan while the artist pursues his path in Europe. The act of departure — filled with both desire and loss — translates visually into a tension between presence and absence, between emotional connection and the need for autonomy.

🥠Visitors are invited to take one fortune cookies transforming the exhibition experience into a gesture of sharing and good fortune.
