Lijun is a self-taught artist, based in San Diego, California. She started drawing and painting in September, 2012 after her long journey back from India. Her personal life experience and love for nature inspired her to pick up the paint brush and express herself through artistic and creative works. It was a transforming experience for her to discover the healing power of painting, and the sheer j
oy of a solitary studio life which she continues to enjoy every day. Lijun works with a wide range of media, including acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, colored pencils, oil pastel, soft pastel and oil. Her long time favourite has been soft pastel, because pastel let her feel free and be playful like a child; As she gradually grew into a mature artist, she fell in love with the richness of oil, and now she mainly works with oil. Lijun loves nature. The beautiful California seascape serves as her constant inspiration. Her sensitivity and keen observations let her see beauty in the smallest things in life - a tree, a flower, a shell, had all become the subjects of her art. Meanwhile, Lijun sets out to travel and see the world. She always pack a sketch book and a watercolour kit in her suitcase. She has painted scenes from Sweden, Greece, Italy, Turkey, China, and many more. Store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/LijunYangArt

The title of the blog "I've Brought to Art" came from one of Lijun's favorite poems, by the Greek poet Cavafy. Here's the poem -
I've Brought to Art
I sit in a mood of reverie. I brought to Art desires and sensations:
things half-glimpsed,
faces or lines, certain indistinct memories
of unfulfilled love affairs. Let me submit to Art:
Art knows how to shape forms of Beauty,
almost imperceptibly competing life,
blending impressions, blending day with day.
