Quando Gilbert e George si incontrano a Londra nel 1967, nasce qualcosa che va oltre un semplice sodalizio artistico: due persone, ma un solo artista. Un percorso che li porterà all’intuizione destinata a segnare tutta la loro ricerca: fare di sé stessi l’opera d’arte.
Prendono forma così le celebri Living Sculptures, in cui corpo, presenza e vita quotidiana diventano materia artistica, dando inizio a una ricerca che supera il confine tra arte e vita e che troverà nel motto “Art for All” una delle sue espressioni più significative.

When Gilbert and George met in London in 1967, something more than a simple artistic partnership was born: two people, but one artist. This marked the beginning of a journey that would lead them to the idea destined to shape their entire artistic practice: to make themselves the work of art.
This is how their celebrated Living Sculptures took shape, turning the body, presence and everyday life into artistic material and giving rise to a practice that transcends the boundary between art and life, finding one of its most significant expressions in the motto “Art for All.”
