PAUL CUCK is the new born line of lamps inspired by the
techniques of the dadaism artistic movement. The concept is
very simple: plastic objects of common use are transformed
into lamps. Using a special plastic molding technique, the lamps
are shape
d in unusual ways. Indeed, if you look at the finished
objects you have the impression they are still melting from the
heat of the lamp itself. Every lamp is unique because compleatly
hand made. This peculiar way of creating new objects is called Transforming
Design and is based on a switch in the utilisation of a specific
object. PAUL CUCK is made with dismissed common things,
such as skittles normally used for traffic signaling, tanks for liquids
(i.e. fuel) and safety helmets. All these things are manipulated
one by one and transformed into lamps using innovative
techniques. La linea di lampade Paul Cuck si ispira fondamentalmente al dadaismo. Si tratta semplicemente di una trasformazione di oggetti in plastica di uso comune, in lampade. Inoltre utilizzando una tecnica di scioglimento della plastica si ottiene un prodotto inusuale. Guardando gli oggetti si ha l’impressione che si stiano proprio sciogliendo per il calore della luce. In realtà la luce dalle lampadine al loro interno, non è in grado di sciogliere la plastica. La lampadina che invece si vede all’esterno, è il segno che contraddistingue tutta la linea. È come se quella lampadina fosse stata immaginariamente lanciata da lontano contro ogni lampada, conficcandosi nella plastica e facendola sciogliere.
