Discovery Station Assisi (DSA) is a nonprofit based in Italy that creates result oriented programs designed to excite children's interest in science and technology, and instill confidence and self respect to better prepare for the 21st century . DSA began back in 2008 as an idea to bring a children's museum to Assisi. As we developed the project, it became startlingly clear that the concept of a c
hildren's museum alone was insufficient to close the education gap. Through continuous research, working with young people in making numerous cool things, meeting with leaders in the field and developing partnerships with schools and science organizations, we developed:
Make Point TM a program where resources are aggregated so that makers 3-18 can make really cool things that they never even dreamed about
360o TM the Food, Travel and Culture program of Discovery Station Assisi. ROBOT Laboratorio TM a non competitive entry level robotics program designed for children 6 to 12 to expose them to the environment of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and the Core Values
FIRST LEGO League Italy is the first opportunity for our children 9-16 to prepare for the 21st century on an international level. Over 250,000 kids participate in FLL in about 20,000 teams in 61 countries. In 2011, DSA earned the honor of being named the Official FLL Operational Partner for Italy. DSA commenced these programs through it's operational partner TEO (Technology Education Organization) since 2010. Programs have been based at ITIS Marco Polo in Assisi through the cooperation of their facuty and students. DSA will continue programs at ITIS including the headquartering of FIRST LEGO League Italy at the ITIS Campus. In order the expand availability to neighboring communities and different age groups, DSA is working closely with External Affairs at Centostazioni to secure a permanent location at the Assisi train station and anticipate possession of the location in April 2012. We are seeking contributions to help fund a very modest start up budget.
