「修行するダルマ」を形にしてみました。

Sitting in silence, facing oneself.
Seeking nothing, simply looking within.

Stepping away from my pop-inspired Daruma,

SHOHEI OHTANI DARUMA

大谷翔平をモチーフに、ひとつのダルマを作りました。

日本の伝統的な「ダルマ」というかたちに、
現代を生きる人物の表情や個性を重ねてみる。

小さな立体ですが、
そこには絵画とも彫刻とも少し違う面白さがあります。

そして、この大谷翔平ダルマから、
すでにドジャースの他のメンバーたちも作り始めています。

一人、また一人と加わっていくことで、
やがてひとつの**「Dodgers Daruma」シリーズ**へ。

まずは、その最初の一人。
大谷翔平ダルマです。

SHOHEI OHTANI DARUMA

I created a Daruma inspired by Shohei Ohtani.

The idea is to bring together the traditional Japanese form of the Daruma with the faces and personalities of contemporary figures.

It is a small sculptural object, somewhere between portrait, painting, and sculpture.

And Ohtani is only the beginning.

I have already started creating other members of the Dodgers — one by one, each becoming a new Daruma.

Eventually, they will come together as a “Dodgers Daruma” series.

And it all begins here,
with Shohei Ohtani Daruma.

DARUMA PEOPLE SERIES

私が制作している「DARUMA」シリーズから、新しい立体作品が生まれました。

今回のモチーフは、大相撲の力士 安青錦 新大関。

ダルマという日本の伝統的なフォルムの中に、安青錦関の力強さと、どこか穏やかで美しい表情を表現してみました。

そして後ろ姿には、彼の故郷ウクライナを想い、青を背景に向日葵を描いています。

これは似顔絵でも、単なる力士の人形でもありません。
さまざまな人物の個性や生き方を、私なりの「DARUMA」という造形に置き換えていく試みです。

DARUMA PEOPLE — 人は、それぞれのダルマになれる。

A new sculpture has joined my ongoing DARUMA series.

This time, the subject is sumo wrestler Aonishiki, newly promoted to the rank of Ozeki.

Within the traditional Japanese form of the Daruma, I wanted to capture both his strength and his distinctive, gentle presence.

On the back of the sculpture, sunflowers bloom against a blue field — a quiet reference to his homeland, Ukraine.

This is neither simply a portrait nor a sumo figurine.
It is part of my continuing exploration of transforming different people, their character and their stories, into my own interpretation of the DARUMA form.

A Different Daruma

Until now, I have created cheerful and playful Daruma in both paintings and sculptures.
This time, I wanted to explore a different emotion.

Using darker, heavier tones, I painted this F6 canvas with a sense of silence, resilience, and the strength that lies beneath the surface.

Even when the expression appears stern, there is an unshakable spirit within.

いつもとは違うダルマ

これまで私は、ポップで親しみやすいダルマを、絵画や立体作品として制作してきました。

今回は少し趣を変え、重厚な色彩を用いて、F6サイズのキャンバスに描いてみました。

静けさの中に宿る力、厳しい表情の奥にある揺るがない意志――そんなものを表現したいと思いました。

Within the depth of black, lines awaken.
Colors, held by the cold,
breathe softly as unnamed forms.
They loosen and bind,
appear and fade.
A memory of winter’s end,
and a quiet premonition
of the coming spring.
黒の奥で、線が目を覚ます。
寒さに閉じ込められた色たちは、
まだ名前を持たない形として、
静かに呼吸をはじめる。
ほどけては結び、
現れては消える。
それは冬の終わりの記憶であり、
春が来る前の、かすかな予兆。

Today at CAM.
A quiet change of scenery.
I moved the large pencil drawings upstairs
and began hanging works that once lived on these walls again—
different times, different moments, meeting here once more.
CAM will close in March.
It’s a little bittersweet,
but it doesn’t mean the end of drawing or showing my work.
I’ll keep making, and I’ll keep sharing.
Until now, most of my presentations were online,
but there’s something irreplaceable about seeing the work in person.
I’d like to keep creating chances for that, too.
今日のCAM。
少しだけ、静かに模様替えをしました。
大きな鉛筆画は2階へ移し、
かつてこの場所に飾っていた、いろいろな絵たちを
また壁に戻していこうと思います。
3月でここは一区切り。
少し寂しいけれど、描くことは終わりません。
これからも描き続け、発表し続けていきます。
これまではネットでの発表が多かったけれど、
やっぱり実物を前にしてもらえる時間も、大切にしたい。
そんな思いで、これからの場を考えています。
