They say the best stories are found between the pages of a passport. I found this relic while packing my life into two suitcases for Australia.
It is a strange thing to hold your eighteen-year-old self in your hands.
This little book is coming with me to a new continent. It serves as a good reminder that the best chapters usually start with a one-way ticket.

Direct South Africa → Australia? Too vanilla for me.

Burned my Asiana miles on a FREE Ethiopian Airlines business class ticket: Johannesburg → Addis → Seoul. Ethiopian is an underrated gem and I can’t wait to test that business class lie-flat seats.

A week of cherry blossoms and epic BBQ in Seoul with Jin and her family, then we’re off together on China Southern to Adelaide. Quick Guangzhou transit is just enough time for a killer dim sum and then it’s down south.

First time Down Under for me and it’s a one-way ticket. Excitement = max + anxiety = max

Gyeongju is a time machine. Those smooth hills are burial mounds called tumuli. Royal tombs from the Silla Dynasty more than a thousand years old. Some were built around the same era as the pyramids. Different continent same obsession with legacy.

When we still lived in Seoul there were quiet whispers about a new pocket of cool hidden between the metal workshops of Mullae d**g. Today we finally went back to see what became of it. The rumours were right. Trendy bars, small cafes and easy going restaurants sit shoulder to shoulder with workshops where men grind metal pipes and hammer and solder all day.

For food do not miss Goatt Delicatessen. The bacon apple sandwich borders on the spiritual.

Dallas Pizza has toppings that actually cover the whole slice. The cinnamon sugar rimmed Kozel beer works in a strange way. The fresh cream beer which looks like a pint crossed with a milkshake looked like trouble so we passed.
