With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of
U Tin Win, founder of Beikthano Gallery and one of Myanmar’s most respected artists. He passed away peacefully at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York on August 6, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born in Minbu in 1951 and a graduate of the State School of Fine Arts in Mandalay, U Tin Win dedicated his life to the arts. His deeply human, photorealistic portraits of Myanmar’s ethnic peoples have left an indelible mark on the country’s artistic landscape.

A private cremation will be held in New York.
A 7th-day memorial service will take place in Yangon on August 13, 2025, where family, friends, and the art community are welcome to gather and honor his life and legacy.

We are deeply grateful for your love, support, and respect during this time.
