IDRIS

Fadzil Idris is a highly accomplished visual artist, production designer, and art director, whose career seamlessly blends fine art with film, earning him significant recognition locally and internationally. His artistic journey began with a degree in Fine Art from UiTM (Universiti Teknologi MARA), where he honed his skills and developed a foundation that would later enable him to navigate the visual arts and film industries with remarkable success.

Fadzil first gained recognition in the art world in 1996 when he received the Major Award at the prestigious Phillip Morris Malaysian Art Award held at the National Art Gallery (NAG) in Kuala Lumpur. That same year, his work was also honored with an Honourable Mention at the Phillip Morris ASEAN Art Award in Bangkok, Thailand. His creative talent continued to be acknowledged in the subsequent years with another Honourable Mention at the Phillip Morris Malaysian Art Awards in 1998, and he secured a Consolation Prize in the Young Contemporary Art Award at the National Art Gallery (BSVN) in Kuala Lumpur in 2000. His artistic journey didn't stop there, as he went on to win the BINA Award at the 2007 Young Contemporary Art Awards and the Second Prize in the 1 Malaysia Mural Art Competition in 2011. In 2020, he showcased his ability to address environmental issues through art by winning a Second Prize at the Waste Art Competition in Cyberjaya.

While excelling in the visual arts, Fadzil also made a name for himself in the film industry as a sought-after production designer and art director. His journey in film began with a nomination for Best Art Direction at the 14th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM) in 1998 for his work on Jogho. This recognition marked the start of his successful career in film production design, where his keen eye for detail and artistic vision brought cinematic worlds to life. In 2003, Fadzil won the Best Art Direction Award at the 16th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM) for his work on Embun and followed it up with another win for Best Art Direction at the 17th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM) in 2004 for the film Paloh.

Fadzil Idris has built an impressive legacy as a visual artist and a production designer. His works, whether displayed in art galleries or crafted for film sets, reflect a deep commitment to storytelling and creativity. He continues to push the boundaries of fine art and film in Malaysia, creating a body of work that resonates with beauty, history, and emotional depth, earning him a place as one of the country’s most celebrated creative figures.

In the heart of Kg. Kumpulan, a group of passionate artists, and the local community are on a mission to transform everyday waste into stunning works of eco-art. Through creativity and recycling, we're turning discarded materials into sculptures that celebrate both art and sustainability.

Join us in celebrating this unique fusion of nature and creativity at our Surat Cinta exhibition, running from October 2 - 20 at Pantai Cenang.

Don't miss the chance to witness how trash becomes a treasure!

Please SAVE THE DATE and let's make a positive impact together!
