Something happened to me this evening and i thought to share…
A friend called, and I thought he was just checking up on me. Not knowing it was actually for an interview for a role I applied for to help host an event.
Before that, he mentioned a recent event I participated in. He said he saw me in one of our boss’s videos online. I’ve also worked with him before (the same friend), so he already knew how I operate. I was like, “Really? I need to go watch that video.”
Then he said, “Mabel, I actually called you for an interview ooo… but when I realized it was you, I said ah! This one na boss for this thing.”
I just laughed and said, “Alright, let’s do the interview.”
He replied, “What interview? I know you and how you work, no need for interview.” And he ended the call. I was like… wait, what? Omo, God abeg
The funny thing is, I was simply doing my work. Not for eye service., not to impress anybody. I genuinely love gaining new experiences, so I do my work wholeheartedly.
Here’s my advice , no matter how small the role you’re given, do it well because you never can tell who is watching.
I once worked in a school, and when I resigned, parents kept saying, “You were so good at what you do, why are you leaving?” I’ve also worked with an international brand where I was always trusted with assignments that required professionalism and excellence.
The truth is, when I work, I work to learn. It’s not just for the owners or the organization. My first priority is my growth.
And I think yours should be too. #
