Police Officer Nabbed For Extrajudicially Killing of a Suspect claims Was Suffering Spiritual Attack
InformationngApr 29, 2026Read original

The Delta State Police Command has attributed the alleged extrajudicial killing of a suspect by a police officer to a “spiritual attack.”

A video showing the shooting of a suspect who had been restrained by a police officer attached to the Delta police command has surfaced on social media surfaced on Tuesday.

In the less-than-two-minute video, the male suspect is seen sitting on the ground with his hands tied behind his back with a rope.

The suspect can be heard pleading with the police officers not to shoot him, saying he was deceived by a friend who is residing in the Sapele area of Delta state.

“Officers, abeg, I go tell you everything. Na my friend deceived me. E dey Sapele. I go carry you go the place,” the suspect begged the officers in Pidgin English

As the suspect was pleading with the officers, one of them, dressed in m***i, was seen cocking his rifle and then shooting directly at the suspect.

Immediately, the suspect lay on the group as passers-by watched the incident.

Afterwards, the police officers carried the body into a Toyota Sienna vehicle with the inscription: “The Nigeria Police Force Effurun Area Command, Uvwie”.

In a statement on Tuesday, Bright Edafe, police spokesperson in Delta, identified the suspect as 28-year-old Mene Ogidi.

Edafe said the shooting of the suspect by a police officer identified as Nuhu Usman led to Ogidi’s death.

He said Usman has been arrested and transferred to the state police headquarters, Asaba, for necessary disciplinary action.

The Command said the officer involved has been taken into custody, while investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

However speaking on Wednesday in a televised interview, Delta State Police PPRO, Bright Edafe, reacted to the alleged extrajudicial killing of a suspect by an ASP, describing it as a “difficult moment” for the force.

According to him, ‘Spirituality is the only explanation for what he did.’

The unusual explanation has, however, generated public concern, with many Nigerians questioning the basis of the claim and demanding a more transparent account of the incident. Critics argue that such cases require clear procedural explanations rather than unconventional interpretations....MY PEOPLE WHICH WAY WE DAY GO...ACCLAIMED TRAINED POLICE MAN WITH RANK.....WE DON SEE WITH OUR TWO EYE

Chasing the Wind — A Poem for the Trending Generation (Gen Z)

O trending generation,
children of speed and shining screens,
you scroll through life like a restless river,
searching for meaning in fleeting things.

Your days are painted in filters and flashes,
your nights lit by the glow of desire,
each moment measured in likes and numbers,
each dream set ablaze by a digital fire.

You run after gold that glitters but fades,
after fame that echoes and quickly dies,
you gather applause like grains of sand,
yet emptiness still fills your skies.
Tell me—what is this race you run,
where the finish line keeps moving away?

What treasure do you truly gain
when peace is the price you pay?
For chasing the world is chasing the wind,
it slips through your hands, it will not stay,
you hold it tight, yet lose yourself,
as your soul slowly drifts away.

O Gen Z, hear this quiet truth
you are more than the things you own,
more than trends that rise and fall,
more than a life that’s loudly shown.

There is beauty in stillness,
there is wealth in a grounded heart,
there is purpose beyond the noise,
a deeper path you must not depart.

Do not trade your soul for shadows,
nor your worth for passing praise,
for the wind you chase will never rest,
it will leave you lost in endless haze.

Come back to what is real and true,
to love, to depth, to things that last,
for life is more than the rush of now—
it is a seed, not just a blast.

O trending generation, pause
before the wind takes all you are,
and find the strength within your roots,
for that is where your riches are.

Ikenga: The Spiritual Strength, Vision, and African Identity

The Ikenga is more than just a wooden sculpture — it is an embodiment of a people’s philosophy, a mirror of identity, and a symbolic compass of the Igbo cosmological worldview. As a work of art, the Ikenga stands firm, bold, and richly detailed, representing the inner spirit (chi), personal achievement, and divine alignment of its owner. It is often portrayed holding a knife and a horn — symbols of courage, strength, determination, and the power to overcome life’s challenges.
In the traditional Igbo society, Ikenga is not worshipped as a god, but honored as a personal totem — a sacred guide that aligns man with his destiny (akaraka), reminds him of his purpose, and connects him with the cosmic order of the universe. Through Ikenga, the Igbo man expresses his inner dialogue with creation: his struggles, his progress, his victories, and his relationship with the forces that shape the physical and spiritual world.
However, with the advent of colonial and missionary influence, this deep and symbolic object was misjudged and demonized. Instead of seeking understanding, the foreign lens condemned it as evil — erasing the essence of African metaphysical thought in favor of imported ideologies. As a result, today, many of our people view Ikenga with fear or shame, forgetting its origin as a cultural philosophy carved into form.
Yet, the time has come to reclaim and reinterpret the Ikenga — not just as a relic, but as a framework for African growth and identity. When we study the Ikenga, we rediscover our values of hard work, resilience, honor, and spiritual balance. It is our responsibility to educate, preserve, and modernize this heritage to awaken new generations to the wisdom encoded in our ancestral arts.

Quote:

“Ikenga is not just carved wood; it is carved will — the sculpted soul of a people reaching beyond survival into meaning, purpose, and divine alignment.”

“I am your king,” he cried, “but not a free man. I have ruled you, but I have never ruled myself.”
The people fell silent. Some wept. Some whispered. But none moved.
At that moment, the old prophet stepped forward again.
“You have broken your chains,” he said softly, “not with a sword—but with the truth.”
That night, Zimuzo disappeared. Some say he became a wandering healer. Others say he joined a monastery.
But in every village, the story lives on: the man who ruled a kingdom, but found his freedom only when he faced the chains within.

Moral:
True freedom begins not with power over others, but peace within oneself. A man can wear a crown, yet live in chains, until he dares to confront his past.
