DSSC - Regional Coffee Innovation Center & Museum Coffee cupping laboratory was established in 2017 in partnership with ACDI-VOCA a non-profit organization.

This aims to help coffee growers in improving the quality of their produce in accordance with the world standards set by CQI.

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) received recognition during the CHED ICONS Awards 2025 held on December 10, 2025 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. DSSC was recognized alongside the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), making them the only two state universities and colleges from Region XI included in this yearโ€™s awardees.

The Commission on Higher Education organized the event to honor higher education institutions that appeared in international ranking bodies and demonstrated work that supports sustainability and academic growth.

Today, October 31, 2025, the Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC) โ€“ Maragusan Branch, Agriculture Department, conducted an Educational Field Tour at the Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC).

The visit, composed of 16 senior BS in Agriculture major in Crop Science students, and 2 faculty members, as part of their course on Fruits and Plantation Crop Production and Management. On this hands-on learning activity, participants has gained firsthand knowledge on coffee production, processing, and quality enhancement techniques bridging classroom concepts with real-world applications.

The center is honored to share its facilities and expertise in support of DDOSCโ€™s mission to nurture future agriculturists who are grounded in innovation and sustainability.

This engagement also reflects our shared commitment in strengthening inter-SUC collaboration, and promoting the coffee industry in the Region.

Today, October 30, 2025, the Bansalan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Bansalan Coop) and the Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) successfully conducted a Coffee Appreciation Learning Visit at the RCIC & Museum facility in Digos City with our partner-farmer beneficiaries from BATAFAMA.

This activity forms part of the Social Development Program (SDP 103: Coffee for Life) โ€” a co-implemented initiative of Bansalan Coop and RCIC that aims to enhance the technical capabilities, appreciation, and understanding of coffee among cooperative members and community partners.

Davao del Sur State College under its Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) in partnership with DTI, Davao del Sur gave way to a strong collaboration which led to the successful 3 day event, The Coffee Fiesta 2025.

Highlights of the Fiesta:

Day 1: The event kicked off with the strong commitment of DSSC President, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, who graced the Opening Program and delivered an inspiring message of support for our local coffee industry.

Day 2: The action was intense with the exciting Brewing Competition and the highly anticipated Latte Art Competition, featuring both an open category and an exclusive segment for Davao del Sur's finest baristas!

Day 3: We capped off the fiesta, celebrating the excellence, passion, and future of Davao Del Sur coffee!

A special thank you and congratulations to all the organizers, participants, and of course, to our dear farmers!

We are also immensely grateful for the captivating performances of the DSSC Musikero and Theatro Davsuranon! Your talent brought a vibrant cultural richness that truly elevated the entire fiesta. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽญ

We had a productive day with Dr. Luciano D. Nasibog, Jr., representing the DSSC President, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, for the significant Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony for the Multi-sectoral Governance Coalition (MSGC) at Abreeza Ayala Malls, Davao City.

Yesterday - RCIC goes ASEAN!

The Regional Coffee Innovation Center & Museum proudly welcomed delegates of the 18th ASEAN Food Conference 2025 Technical Tour.

Participants from across Southeast Asia experienced Davao del Surโ€™s rich coffee culture and innovation. Highlighting our journey from seed to cup and our role in shaping resilient and sustainable food futures.

We thank the DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, Dr. Anthony C. Sales of DOST XI, Ms. Leslie Pearl Cancio-Dy of PSTO Davao del Sur, the Philippine Association of Food Technologists (PAFT) Inc., and PAFT-Mindanao, Inc. for this meaningful opportunity to showcase the Region's Coffee on the ASEAN stage.
