MUSEUMS IN GOOD HANDS | City of Museums in Bicol

Ending 2025 with this good news from the Local Government of Naga through a resolution filed by COUNCILOR JUDE DIOKNO - Establishing our City as the Museum Industry Center of Bicol.

This recognition reaffirms our commitment along with other museums under the Naga City Museums Association (NCMA) as the keeper that safeguards Bicol’s rich heritage, history, and culture.

Naga is hailed as the Museum City in the Region due to the presence of 10 museums readily available to welcome visitors, namely:
● Naga College Foundation V Gallery x Museum
● Bicol Science Centrum
● Raul S. Roco Gallery
● Museo de Haykulano
● University of Nueva Caceres Museum
● Museo del Seminario Conciliar de Nueva Caceres

MUSEUMS AS ONE! | Bicol Museums Summit

To end the year, the Bicol coalition of museums successfully held the BICOL MUSEUMS SUMMIT attended by the different museum workers from the provinces of Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate and Camarines Norte.

This summit, organized and hosted by the Naga City Museums Association (NCMA) is a pivotal transition to 2026 as we roll out exciting projects, including partnerships and collaborations, revisiting the vision-mission of the organization, and learning best practices among the attendees.

ALL SET! | Bicol Museums Summit

The Naga City Museums Association (NCMA) with the guidance of the Bicol Association of Museums (BAM), and support from the Local Government of Naga through the Naga City Investment and Tourism Promotions Office is hosting the year-end gathering of museum workers of Bicol this December 12 at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary.

To cap the year and celebrate the successful series of museum engagements by the different member-museums, and strategizing 2026 for a better and bigger museums ecosystem in the Bicol Region are the agenda for this Summit.

Bicol Region hosts 30 plus private and government-run museums that cater to the rich and diverse heritage, history and culture.

CEBU GABII sa KABILIN x NAGA VISITA MUSEO | Museum Partnership

In preparation for the proposed Bicol Museums Convention this October - staff and volunteers of the University of Nueva Caceres Museum representing the Naga City Museums Association (NCMA) visited several museums in Cebu for a benchmark on the conduct of their Gabii sa Kabilin - an annual night at the museum festivities that highlights museum tourism in their province.

We had the chance to visit and connect with the organizer of this project, and provided us insights on how we can execute our own version which will be called Visita Museo.

We are grateful to the San Carlos University Museum and their Department of Anthropology for introducing us to the brains behind the famous Gabii sa Kabilin.

GROWING MUSEUM COMMUNITY | the Porta Mariae Museum

We are happy to welcome the 8th member museum to the Naga City Museum Association (NCMA) - The Porta Mariae Museum.

This Ecclesiastical Museum is a 3-level gallery inside the Porta Mariae Arc pays homage to our Lady of Penafrancia. Inside the museum are collections of the 300 plus years devotion to INA - the patroness of Bicolandia.

The Museum is open on this schedule:
Monday & Wednesday
1:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Friday & Saturday
9:00 AM – 12:00 NN
1:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Sunday
9:00 AM – 12:00 NN

The tour ends with a breathtaking 360 view of the Heritage District of Naga at the roof deck, and a sight of the grand Metropolitan Cathedral -- perfect for instagrammable memories.

August 17, a group of museum workers convened to create a group espousing art, history and heritage of our beloved City. Starting with 4 member-museums, the association now comprise of 8 museums with the purpose of enriching museum tourism in the City.
