Snapshots from CURRENTS, Raul Isidro’s Solo Exhibition

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and took the time to visit CURRENTS despite your busy schedules.

Raul Isidro’s latest works explore the interplay of vibrant colors, bold geometric forms, and regional identity. Inspired by the deep tones of his home province of Samar, his distinct abstraction bridges local heritage and contemporary expression.

Through the dynamic contrast of modular rectangles and expansive circular forms, CURRENTS invites viewers to experience movement, tension, and rhythm in a fresh perspective—affirming the enduring presence of regional identity in today’s contemporary art scene.

Thank you for being part of this meaningful artistic journey with Nami Art Gallery.

A remarkable milestone was achieved as 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴’𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 celebrated its fourth consecutive sold-out presentation at ManilART, held at the SMX Convention Center Aura in BGC. This extraordinary achievement reflects the enduring appeal of his works among collectors and further establishes his place as one of today’s most compelling contemporary artistic voices.

The continued success of his exhibitions highlights the depth of his artistic vision, the distinctiveness of his style, and the growing appreciation for his ability to transform landscapes into evocative expressions of memory and emotion.

Raul Isidro’s current canvases leave no room for passive looking. Walking into Nami Art Gallery, you are immediately confronted by a flat, dense mass of color—pure cadmiums, sharp oranges, and deep purples that refuse to function as decorative backdrops. There is no heavy texture or impasto here to hide behind. Instead, the application is entirely smooth and flat, forcing the bare temperature and sharp values of the pigment to do all the heavy lifting on the wall.

The tension is purely architectural. Isidro maps out sharp, intersecting planes of color and locks them inside rigid geometric frames. It is a blunt containment strategy: loose, moving forms trapped behind hard-edged boundaries. This friction acts as a heavy signifier for the daily collisions between regional identity and modern institutional structures. By anchoring these crisp, clean fields of color in the deep tones of his home province in Samar, Isidro keeps the work stubbornly local, resisting the easy slip into a generic, global style.

The layout inside Nami Art Gallery actively disrupts how you move through the space. Positioned right within the Artwalk at SM Mall of Asia, the physical sequencing of the exhibition breaks the predictable rhythm of a standard viewing. A tight run of modular rectangles sets up a strict horizontal line, only to be deliberately fractured by the massive scale of the circular tondos. Your eye tracks a flat, stable horizon along the wall before being thrown directly into the wide, spinning motion of the circles. By bringing these unyielding regional perspectives into a major contemporary hub, Isidro ensures his abstraction never acts as an escape from reality. It remains a sharp, active document of a living environment claiming its own space.

Nami Art Gallery invites you 𝐑𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐈𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐫𝐨 solo exhibit, 𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐄,

The exhibition 𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐄 strips back the complex layers of modern life to anchor the soul onto something unyielding and eternal. At the heart of this curated presentation is Master Abstractionist Raul Isidro's landmark exploration of stone. Drawing deeply from visceral memories of the craggy breakwaters and coastal bastions of his hometown in Samar, Isidro creates segmented, column-like silhouettes that float with a paradoxically gravity-defying weight. These are not mere paintings of boulders; they are psychological topographies where dense, textured brushstrokes represent the weathering of time, and bold, warm-to-cool palettes breathe life into cold, stoic matter.

Moving through the space, the dialogue expands into a brilliant counter-narrative of his career's other crucial milestones. The solid, structured anchoring of his rock paintings stands in perfect tension with the celestial weightlessness of his Lunar concepts and the joyful, organic geometry of his beloved Pakwan series. Each piece utilizes deliberate maskings and sophisticated layering to create rich, low-relief surfaces that catch light across fields of flat, unyielding background tones. By juxtaposing the dense permanence of earth with the fluid expansion of his color fields, INNER CORE captures an artist who has spent more than half a century proving that nature's basic elements can be rewritten into a limitless universe of human emotion.

True art never demands a single voice, nor does it force different minds to follow a predictable path.

𝑲𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒆, the landmark exhibition presented by Nami Art Gallery under the curatorial direction of Christian Regis and Managing Director Tin Yap, brings together fourteen independent Filipino contemporary artists. Instead of chasing market trends or uniform styles, this collection celebrates absolute differences, allowing fourteen distinct artistic journeys to sit side-by-side in a shared dialogue.

The heart of the exhibition relies on reframing the world around us. By taking familiar subjects quiet landscapes, daily objects, flora, human forms, and personal memories—and stripping them of their purely decorative roles, these creators activate the canvas. Through rich textures, heavy mediums, and raw physical interventions, ordinary signs become deep spaces of human emotion, inviting the viewer to slow down, look closely, and let themselves wonder.

The show bridges two vital generations: The Pillars, who provide decades of master techniques and historical weight, and The New Trajectories, who inject fresh impulses and unpredictable modern energy. Together, they form fourteen unique chapters of an ongoing story, capturing a profound moment where history and future potential meet to transform the mundane pieces of daily life into something lasting and deeply meaningful.
Join us as we turn the page to the very first movement.

Renato Cheng Solo Exhibition
ManilART

In Landscape Memories 2026, Renato Cheng transforms flowers, fields, and the beauty of nature into textured memories—built through layers of color, movement, rhythm, and repetition.

His paintings move between the intimate and the expansive, bringing together countless marks and vibrant colors to create landscapes that feel less observed and more remembered—fragments of places, emotions, and moments that linger long after they are gone.

As we open this new chapter, we invite you to experience Renato Cheng’s latest body of work and discover of the pieces he will be bringing to Manila Art 2026.

Here’s to new beginnings, new spaces, and more art to come.
