White Wall Gallery proudly presents, “and yet, Green”, a solo presentation by Hunza based artist Karim Ahmed Khan.

“Using threads, wire and layers of polyamide hot glue, a delicate structure begins to take form, one that catches and reflects light, almost as if it were suspended in air. As natural light shifts, the work seems to transform throughout the day, echoing the changing landscapes it quietly recalls. Perhaps it draws from the fading presence of glaciers and ice formations, hinting at the fragile state of the environment.

As temperatures rise and ecosystems continue to shift, what once felt permanent now appears to be slowly slipping away. The illusion of frozen light lingers in this uncertainty, something beautiful, yet fleeting, always on the verge of dissolving.

Placed within nature, the work seems to hold a quiet pause. It invites a moment of reflection on how climate change reshapes the world around us, sometimes so subtly that it goes unnoticed.” - Karim Ahmed Khan

The exhibition “and yet, Green” continues till 20 May, 2026.

White Wall Gallery proudly presents, _”and yet, Green”,_ a solo presentation by Hunza based artist Karim Ahmed Khan.

Karim Ahmed Khan has been pondering upon the consequences of global warming, particularly the destruction of forests and natural habitats, such as those of the Hunza Valley, where he lives and works. Using charcoal as a primary medium, along with miniature painting techniques like gouache on Wasli and paper, Karim’s bare branches with the occasional flowers and leaves, evoke ideas of transformation and regeneration in Nature.

With _And Yet, Green_ Karim exhorts us to contemplate a return to a more harmonious co-existence with the natural world.

The exhibition and yet, Green continues till 20 May, 2026.

“The title of the exhibition is War and Peace, taken from the novel by Leo Tolstoy. In this exhibition, I have worked in three different mediums: acrylic paint on canvas, gouache on wasli paper, and metal objects.
I belong to a tribal region of Pakistan. Since childhood, we have never been afraid of guns or weapons; they were like any other everyday object, like a glass of water or anything else. However, as we grew up, that region changed into a conflict zone. With this transformation, everyday necessities such as gallons used for storing water became a sign of fear. I have depicted these elements in my work in an abstract and minimal manner.
As we enter the gallery, we encounter metal sculptures placed at the centre, which confront the viewer rather than inviting them.
Similarly, when viewing the canvas paintings titled Landscape, at first glance they appear green, lush, and harmonious, evoking a sense of serenity. However, as one spends more time with observing them closely, that serenity gradually transforms into chaos and distortion.” - Hammad Gillani

“Trained in miniature painting, Hammad Gillani expands his practice into a liberated language of mark-making that moves beyond traditional boundaries. Rooted in his lived experiences as part of the Orakzai tribe in northern Pakistan, his work reflects the intersections of memory, conflict, and everyday life.

In War and Peace, Gillani explores the fragile coexistence of violence and serenity. His imagery guns, figures, and landscapes appears playful and childlike, yet is meticulously constructed. Lush, blooming forms gradually reveal themselves as stains, evoking traces of blood, while familiar objects like drums and containers shift from domestic symbols to carriers of unease.

Gillani invites viewers to question perception and confront the blurred boundary between beauty and violence.” - Aisha Khalid
