I get bored midway through a painting if I am just painting in different shades of blue and green, which are the main colours I see in my natural environment. So pink and purple it is! I enjoyed the painterly vibes of this piece and I’m glad I didn’t overwork it. It’s always such a fine balance to tread!

Continuing in the vein of painting the little joys I come across in the day to day. This time, it’s a light-dappled tree that caught my attention during a leisurely walk.

I’ve been painting with watercolours for close to 5 years now, but more often than not, I still make the mistake of overworking the painting. This is the third rendition of the painting and I had to constantly tell myself to “Put down the brush!” and stop messing with the paints that’s been laid down on the paper. The result is a piece with much fresher colours and I’m happy with how it finally turned out.
