Snapshots of the curated tours during Kampong Gelam Festival.
We met old friends and made new friends with people from England, France, China, Australia and Singapore. We even had a young Jett (who became Tengku/Sultan Hussien) who promised to speak bahasa Melayu more often. What wonderful conversations we had! To the students who came to learn, it warms the cockles of our heart to know that the young generation cares about our history and heritage.
Hope to see everyone again soon!

Meet Thiriveni, our intern from the National University of Singapore. Coincidentally both our curator Hidayah and her also studied at Sciences Po Paris (ScPo). Hidayah did her studies all in French while Thiriveni did hers in English. “Ce n’est pas juste!” Hidayah lamented but we know how much she loved her sojourn in Paris.
ps. One of the mirrors at ScPo looked like a miniature version of the grand mirror at HYMM!

Come celebrate Kampong Gelam festival with us! Places are limited so register soon.
Kudos to the Javanese and Banjarese community groups for curating interesting programmes during the festival. Also to old friends in Opera Academy for the Asian Operatic Museum tour. Kampong Gelam feels like home again…
