Through gathering letters and diaries by historical female figures, Dora García reconsiders reading as an active gesture and reveals their words as spaces where movement and pause coexist. Revolutions often begin with women, yet their questions are deferred to a distant tomorrow. Still, disappointment becomes preparation.

Pratchaya Phinthong turns to rituals and stories of ambiguous cultural resonance. Photographing street vendors’ perforated lottery boards, Pratchaya Phinthong abstracts everyday hustle into quiet cosmology: each hole, once holding a ticket, marks a small wager on hope, one that repeats twice each month. Illuminated from behind, the boards form fragile constellations of longing and chance.

ผลงานของกลุ่มนิสิตสามย่านและจดหมายเหตุุของห้องสมุดประชาชีที่ยุติการทำงานไปแล้ว และตั้งอยู่ตรงจุดตัดของความตึงเครียดระหว่างพื้นที่สาธารณะและพื้นที่ส่วนตัว อีกทั้งยังตามรอยของสายสัมพันธ์ที่ทำให้ชุมชนก่อตัวขึ้น—ของผู้คนที่ร่วมกันแบ่งปันและดูแลพื้นที่เดียวกัน ทั้งสองกลุ่มเคลื่อนไหวระหว่างการผลิตและการจัดเก็บองค์ความรู้ โดยแนวทางปฏิบัติของพวกเขาได้พัฒนาในช่วงไม่กี่ปีที่ผ่านมาจากการ “จัดตั้ง” สู่การ “รวมตัว”

สำหรับนิสิตสามย่าน กลุ่มนักศึกษาและศิษย์เก่ามหาวิทยาลัยจุฬาลงกรณ์ คำถามเหล่านี้ปรากฏผ่านบริบทของศาลเจ้าแม่ทับทิม ศาลเจ้าอายุร้อยห้าสิบปีในย่านสามย่าน ซึ่งเผชิญการไล่ที่มาตั้งแต่ปี 2563 ภายใต้แผนการพัฒนาใหม่ของมหาวิทยาลัย ผลงานของพวกเขาตั้งคำถามถึงกลไกของอำนาจที่ไม่เพียงทำงานผ่านการควบคุมที่ดินเท่านั้น แต่ยังผ่านการสร้าง “อนาคต” ที่อ้างความแน่นอนและความต่อเนื่องอีกด้วย ห้องสมุดประชาชีซึ่งเป็นห้องสมุดที่จัดตั้งขึ้นกันเอง สะท้อนประเด็นความสนใจ การเมือง และปรารถนาของผู้คนที่หล่อเลี้ยงชุมชนนี้

The materials and works by Nisit Samyan and the now defunct Prachachee Library sit at the crux of tensions between public and private space, as well as trace the bonds through which a community takes form—those who share and sustain a space together. Both groups move between producing and archiving knowledge, their practices having evolved in recent years from acts of organising to acts of gathering.

For Nisit Samyan, a collective of students and alumni of Chulalongkorn University, these questions play out around the Chao Mae Thapthim Shrine, a 150-year-old spiritual anchor in the Samyan neighbourhood that has faced eviction since 2020 under the university’s lucrative redevelopment plans. Their work probes how power operates not only through the control of land but through the crafting of futures that claim certainty and continuity. A self-organised library. Prachachee Library reflects the curiosities, politics, and desires of those who sustain its evolving community.

หวนระลึกถึงสเปรย์พริกไทย—อาวุธสำหรับสลายการชุมนุม ศิลปิน ไว อิพ โปรยผงพริกไทยบดออกจากหน้าต่างอพาร์ตเมนต์ในฮ่องกง การโปรยซึ่งดูเหมือนไม่มีอะไรนอกจากผงที่ปลิวไปตามลมลงสู่ถนนโดยไม่มีใครสังเกตนั้น แฝงความหวังเล็กๆ ว่ายังมีบางสิ่งที่อาจตื่นเร้าขึ้นอีกครั้ง

Evoking pepper spray—a weapon of crowd dispersal. Wai Ip scatters ground pepper from a Hong Kong apartment window. Dispersing nothing but powder blown by the wind into the street, unnoticed, the gesture carries a faint hope that something might still stir. Nadia Guerroui’s works open to sensory drift and lean into an expanded experience of time and space. She imagines new conditions and registers for (re-)encountering and attuning ourselves to overlooked fragments: a close-up of a translucent plastic that catches light from every direction. Her immersive video installation resists any total view, holding viewers within a continuum of seeing and unseeing, where resolution is neither offered nor desired.

A fifteen-year-old nonverbal autistic boy who crossed the Hong Kong–Shenzhen border in 2000 becomes a point of departure. Cici Wu reimagines his return as an evanescent presence, unfolding through oneiric fragments and shots of transitional spaces. Moving between apparition and documentation, the film holds open a room where “unfinished” names both what cannot conclude and what may still resurface.
