Members of the Orleans Chapter, NSDAR were proud to take part in today’s NYS historical marker dedication ceremony at Pierce-Smith Pioneer Cemetery.

The ceremony was a meaningful reminder of the importance of preserving and honoring local history. We were especially grateful to see recognition of the historic cemetery and the continued efforts to share the stories of those who helped shape our community and nation.

The funding for the markers was secured by Albion eighth-graders Luci Borello and Sutton Sanders through the William G. Pomeroy Foundation . We appreciate the Foundation’s continued support in helping preserve and promote historic sites and educational initiatives throughout New York State.

It was inspiring to see students, community members, and local organizations come together to reflect on America’s past as we look ahead to the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration. The student-organized ceremony also featured Revolutionary War and Civil War re-enactors.

Thank you to Albion Central School District and everyone involved for allowing the Orleans Chapter, NSDAR to be part of this special event.r
