The Burlesque Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the living legacy of st******se and burlesque as an artform and cultural phenomenon. With a collection of several thousand costumes, stage props, photographs, and personal effects documenting the careers and lives of burlesque dancers, comics, and producers over nearly a century, BHoF is a growing testament to the power and social impact of the

art of the tease. Check out our classes, quarterly show "TEASE: A Burlesque R***e", and the world-famous "Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender" held every June.

Happy Juneteenth! Today we celebrate the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans and the ongoing arc of history towards justice. To commemorate this event, we present 2016 Miss Exotic World, Miss Poison Ivory's step-down act at the 2017 BHoF Weekender, an act that begins in bo***ge and oppression and ends with coronation and the elevation of Black excellence.

We've just learned that burlesque legend Rita Alexander has passed away.

Rita started burlesque at 18 in New Orleans' French Quarter, after she got some coaching from her lifelong friend, Tee Tee Red. Rita was known as "The Original Champagne Girl" for balancing filled champagne glasses on her breasts, gently lifting a glass to her lips, tilting her head back, and drinking the champagne using no hands! She left Bourbon Street and made her home in California and Las Vegas, performing in the Follies Bergère. After she retired from burlesque, she had a few small acting parts on TV, created a cat sanctuary, and became a paid psychic.

RSV CASE AT BHoF WEEKENDER

Hi everyone! We have learned that a person attending the Weekender was diagnosed with RSV. Typically RSV does not present much of a threat but if you are immunocompromised it could be a problem, so to be on the safe side we thought it best to inform people to keep an eye out for RSV symptoms and/or get tested if you are concerned. The incubation period for RSV is 4-6 days so today and tomorrow are when you'd start feeling sick; symptoms are generally cold-like, including runny noses, coughing, sneezing, and congestion. RSV is usually spread through coughing and sneezing and since the individual affected did not show symptoms themselves until Sunday, it's not likely it was spread, but just in case we thought it best to let you know.
