Our 2nd Annual Day of Service was a success! Yesterday, we brought together 21 alumnae and collegians—including 13 attending their first Greater DC Theta event—to connect through sisterhood, service, and a shared commitment to making a difference.⭐️🪁

Together, we:
💸Collected $650 in in-kind donations
🛁Assembled 30 care packages for DC foster youth
🫶🏻Learned about 3 community partners working to support young people in our community

This event is just the beginning! Our 2026–2027 annual philanthropic goals are to:

💛Engage 20 alumnae in at least one philanthropic activity
🖤Contribute 100 volunteer hours
💫Raise $2,000 for causes that matter
🪁Host 4 meaningful service and fundraising opportunities
🌼Build relationships with 2 community partners

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated items, and helped make this day possible. And thank you to our GW Thetas for helping us secure a venue for the event! Stay tuned for future opportunities to give back together. 🖤💛🪁

- Unscented Full-Size Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and deodorant) 🧴🧼
- Fuzzy Socks 🧦
- Coffee Mugs ☕️
- Tea Bags (relaxing, calming teas) 🫖
- Individually packaged snacks (chips, goldfish, etc.) 🍿🍪

Member Spotlight: Katherine Canan ✨

Meet Katherine from Kappa! Originally from Rochester, MN and a University of Kansas alum, she now serves as Account Director at a tech company. She also serves as our fabulous Mentorship Program Chair! Katherine organizes our mentorship program and all of the wonderful events that bring our mentors and mentees together.

You can often find her trying a new workout class or a restaurant off her endless list. 🧘‍♀️ She loves being part of our alumnae chapter to connect with other Thetas across the US and hearing about everyone’s Theta experiences and moving to DC! 💛

✨ Member Spotlight: Rachel Arrison ✨

Meet Rachel from Delta Kappa! Originally from Thibodaux, LA and a Louisiana State University alum, she now works as Trademark Attorney.

You can often find her at a local farm in the area picking her own (strawberries, blueberries, tulips, sunflowers)! 🌻 She loves being part of our alumnae chapter for all of the fun and unique meetups! She loves that every time she attends everyone is always so nice and welcoming, and the events are always so much fun and a great way to meet other Thetas! 🖤💛

Meet Marybeth from Zeta Tau! Originally from Medford, NJ and a University of Delaware alum, she now serves as Head of Membership for a trade association.

You can often find her spending Sundays at the Dupont Circle Farmers Market 🌿 She loves being part of our alumnae chapter to reconnect with old friends and meet new Thetas along the way! 💛
